its all white lightening,Mt Dew,etc from the time it leaves
the thump keg ,then condenses and turns to liquid and comes out the worm...but some will send it through the puke tank a second time, thus double distilling it...

I think the reasoning is you separate even more of the
non alcohol parts of the shine, making it even more potent...maybe some one will chime in either shooting this down or confirming...but thats the way I understand the reasoning behind the double distillation

True!!

Still about the highest most shiners can get is about 190 proof, to get any higher than that would take chemicals to rid the water.

What gets me is that they could actually tell true stories and make it realistic . People are very intrigued by moon shining business.

I agree...but filming costs is an issue. When we are producing a reality show like Moonshiners, our number one objective is to film and field produce as quickly and efficiently as possible. Cameras, camera operators, audio technicians, and other necessary equipment costs an assload of money. For example...a very low budget show on a crappy network costs no less than $400,000 from start to finish...thts 13 fresh episodes, which represents a full season (13 weeks with 13 reruns).

What happens with a show like Moonshiners or Dealiest Catch is, the network pays these production companies an agreed prices based on a negotiated bid. Once that agreement is made, that's the number that is paid for production...no more, no less. If I, as a producer, cannot reach that financial limitation and still make my money...tough dodo. It's on me or I breech the contract and get sued.

On January 12, 2010, Kiffin returned to USC to become the Trojans head coach. This came following Pete Carroll's departure from USC to become the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. - Lane Kiffin's wiki page

What defines a "good moonshiner" ?

I'd say...not getting caught and one that makes good money.

this is true...I was just talking about cooking talent though...its an art form...I've had pretty bad and I've had great, there is a big difference...in potency and taste...

The chief distiller at Ole Smokey explained it to me differently. He told me that the white lightning is the original corn mash distilled twice. But I don't know...I just drink and sell it!! 😋

I know what you meant...and I agree with you. Lol

Jake, since you and I are still awake, here's something I copied from "The Craft of Whiskey Distilling" published by The American Distilling Institute:

"Diluting: The whiskey straight out of the barrel will be between 55 and 65% abv, and
it will require diluting to bottling strength. Whiskey is diluted to somewhere between 40
and 50% abv for bottling."

There is a plethora of information there, but I think this is where you and I had our differences.

I'm not saying all the due diligence can't happen fast. I'm just saying it helps explain why this isn't happening tomorrow or the day after Dooley is fired. They had a true emergency reason when Dooley was hired because Kiffin left them hanging. They had no choice but to put off the due diligence. They won't want to do that this time, nor can they really justify it because they will be firing Dooley - it won't be as much of an emergency situation. It's the same rules as emergency procurement. Sure they'll move fast - if and only if there is a reason to. If Gruden is really the guy, there is no reason to move fast other than the fact that all of us fans can't stand it anymore.

One last point, I think the Haslams are trying to make a splash here. Is it just a coincidence that they bought a failing, crappy NFL franchise with rabid fans that just happens to be located in the largest city in the most important political swing state politically in the country? I don't. They turn that franchise around, they can all but guarantee the state of Ohio in a presidential election. I know it sounds silly and far fetched, but Gruden just furthers this theory even more because of his celebrity. I may be totally off base, but that family is some of the smartest, politically savvy people in this country. Everything they do is calculated.
