December 17th 2012 is when Gruden to TN will be announced. He won't have his formal presser until the 26th.

This is the timeline I've heard of when Gruden will be announced if the deal gets done.

Dooley will be announced as fired on the 26th with his presser. We will announce a head coaching search at that point.

Gruden and Tennessee will want to not have it appear that they have had this deal being worked on while we've had another coach in place. That would look bad for him professionally and for us as a University.

He also doesn't want to have to address being the next coach on MNF but during his last two broadcasts.

December 17th he will be broadcasting live from Nashville...that will be a great night.:good!:

Hope it all goes down as planned.

Tony b saying Tennessee is passing on gruden. He is more ignorant than I thought

I like listening to Tony B but it is probably a good sign that he is saying that Gruden is not coming. When has any of his predictions come true?

Im sure Tony B is just blowing smoke but Im sorry, all the guys names he is throwing out doesn't increase my pulse rate 1 iota!!!

I guess I like Strong as the best of the rest so to speak.

Here is his smoke list.... The Tony Basilio Show

1. Al Golden: Absolute homerun hire here. Football Pearl!
2. Gary Patterson: Fulmeresque to the core! Wins..
3. Charlie Strong: Just about everybody wins @ L-Ville
4. Jimbo Fisher: Good, solid coach and recruiter.
5. Butch Davis: The guy cheats. Came close in Kiffin yr.
6. Bobby Petrino: Would sell tix. Can he win east?
7. David Cutcliffe: Solid coach! National recruiter?

I'm all in for Gruden with no close 2nd, but at least I don't see Smart's name on that list. I'm over bama rejects.

Let me also add that the 26th presser is more of a guess. That could be delayed till the start of the next year depending on our bowl situation and holiday scheduling.

To add to that as well when we fire Dooley, if we are eligible for a bowl, look for Chaney to be named interim head coach and will be leading the team during bowl practices.

Hello Everyone! I have been watching this site for a few months now. I really enjoy it and have become addicted. There is a lot of great information here and some wonderful personalities.
Go Vols...Get Gruden :yahoo:

Welcome, you can lead our next sacrifice.

Yep enjoy Gruden Watch, it helps take the sting out of the losses.

BTW Hausvol, me and my wife met some vol fans from near your way at myrtle beach in the summer, are you by chance part of that group?

No, not part of that group. I am so excited that our beloved team is taking a turn for the better. I feel bad for the players that had high hopes for their future and now those hopes may be dashed. The school rep and fans also deserve more than this.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. :wavey:

He was saying that the reason things has cooled was Tennessee didn't feel he was the best direction to go????

He is out of his mind. I think these guys are trying to tell us something. They are making statements that are so ludicrous it is like they are trying to tell us there is a gun to their head.

No I did not go to myrtle this year. I alternate between there and Hilton Head for a golf trip every year. I have several golf buddies that go over there every year.

Next to never. Tony B is the non credible whipping boy unless he agrees with your stance which is why he was reverently talked about early on by the people in this thread

The chances of us making a bowl are less than 50%.

Actually what he said was, and I quote : "I had way to much to drink last night, and I have no idea what I'm talking about". TIFWIW

TB is also always a day or two behind Ainge's reports

I have met Tony before once or twice. He is an extremely nice guy and loves the Vols but his positions change more frequently than the weather.

Gruden will be wearing orange, green or powder blue next year, not red.. The source I spoke with believes Gruden has been having similar discussions with Philadelphia and San Diego that he has been having with Tennessee. That is why I say if the deal gets done.
