They need to make Gruden happen. It is the only way to make an immediate impact.

Absolutely. When the hire is made, with the state the program is in right now, Vol fans need to be able to look up at the podium and say, "This guy will beat Nick Saban."

Not, "This guy might be able to beat Nick Saban."

Also not impressed with Golden either.

Or : "I wonder if he can beat James Franklin?"

From Tony B...The Tony Basilio Show

As I told you yesterday, Jon Gruden remains in play yet the possibility of that happening is remote. It seems UT has cooled on him after doing extensive research. Sure, Gruden would be a great recruiter and could probably win, but how would he play long term here? You're talking about giving this guy the keys to the kingdom. The door isn't completely closed on Gruden just yet. I would however say that the lights are flickering.

Hah, UT cooled on Gruden? Geez. Reports from Basilio and Ainge keep getting stranger and stranger. Gruden is a homerun hire in every sense of the word and whether he is here 5 years or 10 years you make that deal everyday and twice on Sunday (and also on Sunday you thank the good Lord the man came and dug your football program out of the deepest abyss it has ever been in). UT cooled on Gruden....good Lord.

Don't get me started. Don't...get me started.

I have having to post and run.... I am at work but here it goes for thhe Auburn and Arky hire.........

Jimbo Fisher.........Auburn }} Done deal
Tubbs.................Arky.........}} Done Deal

This coming from guy I work with whose son is directly in Auburn AD office

Don't know if anyone posted yet... sorry for drive by...will bach as soon as I can to answer question

Jimbo Fisher to Auburn is a head scratcher. Why would he want to be back in Saban's shadow? That doesn't make sense to leave FSU (a program which he rebuilt and is almost complete) to take an Auburn program that is in disarray and have to compete with Nick Saban at every turn.

Al Golden is 38-45. Why on God's green earth would we hire another coach with a losing record? Dear God why?

Whoever this hire ends up being has to unite this fan base. the last thing we need is more in fighting. I want the recruits to see we are 100% behind the new coach. i think Gruden does that and Patterson would do that. I don't see Golden or Petrino bringing us together.
For the love of God I just want to be able to look forward to signing day and Saturdays
again.

If Tubbs to Arkansas and Fisher to Auburn happens, that opens the door for Gary Patterson to be the next Tennessee head coach if Gruden falls through. Patterson would be a terrific hire. His recruiting has been questioned but remember where he's at. It will be much easier for him to recruit at Tennessee. Him bringing Bumpas and Shannon with him would be icing on the cake and would bring alot of coaching and recruiting clout to his staff.

The fact that TB is saying Golden is #1 and Ainge saying it's gonna be Cut or Chief is telling me that they're either blowing smoke (Ainge) or that they're just complete idiots (TB).
