I am not trying to be the a nega-grud because I am all in on Gruden to UT. However, without giving away my identity, I am very connected to Webb School of Knoxville and I have it on good authority that it was Charlie Strong's kids who visited Webb and not Jon Gruden's. I have no reason to troll as I have been a member of many years and post only when I have something legitimate to say.

Do I believe Charlie Strong will be UT's next coach? Quite simply NO. However this is what I was told.

Now on to Gruden!

Disgusting.

If we were to end up with Strong, I'd officially hate sports.

I'm really close on giving up on them altogether. If it's Strong, I quit.

An MOU is a legally binding contract. It just isn't a formal contract. But it states the important terms of the agreement and leaves the rest for a formal contract. Coaches have been known to work a while under an MOU. They get paid just the same. No coach works "on faith."

Okay so are you trying to argue that deals don't fall through after the MOU is signed?

I wasn't saying he was working on faith because he wasn't getting paid. I'm saying he's working on faith that the actual contract got resolved and he didn't get sheisted by UT after he moved to Knoxville. Obviously, once it becomes that public it's way less likely UT would screw him because it looks bad for the AD and hurts trying to hire another coach.

This MOU is far from public and he's not working or getting paid yet, as far as I know...

Borrrrrinnnnnnngggggggggggg

All of my teams suck.

Quite frankly, I don't see Strong as the guy to get us where we're trying to go. Gruden, Petersen... someone like that would get me excited. Strong will just make me depressed. lol

I assume that has something to do with compliance and what not, but I have no idea what it is or whether anybody has taken it.

It's the test the NCAA give new coaches to ensure they know the rules. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Billy Gillespie at UK coached under a MOU, before they fired him.

I am sure you would never look like that Ms. Pattiycake!
Thank you AllVol..I think I am going to spend a little more time at the gym now though to be sure! :)

I am not saying he is getting paid because I am not the one reporting that anyone has signed an MOU. All I can tell you is that an MOU is a legally binding contract. In fact, it is MORE than a verbal agreement, which can be enforceable in certain situations. So, there are legal ramifications if you back out of an MOU. Those ramifications may also be outlined in the MOU. There is not telling how long a formal contract is between a coach and a school- tons of clauses and issues. That takes time to draft, and parties don't have that time to agree and start work. Thus, an MOU is signed and again, it is LEGALLY binding.
