I think that is a very close choice that isn't an easy answer. What do you think the majority would say about choosing between those 2?

I live in South Florida. Golden was dealt about as bad a hand as Dooley, but no way I'd hire him...never, ever, ever.

If you can't recruit successfully in South Florida, how in the wide, wide world of sports are you going to do it in Knoxville?

Golden's turnaround of Temple was nothing short of miraculous.

Assuming he could get a great staff, I would take him over Strong any day of the week.

If you do not have it now, not sure what can be offered. I am as positive as one human can be that Gruden will be our next coach. I believe there is an agreement. I believe he has been contacting staff. Many many media people say the same things, and those that are saying he will not are opinion pieces. Hubbs, LaFrancona, Mortenson, The Redskins press saying he has contacted Raheem about a COLLEGE JOB, Chattanooga press saying its done, BabyVol with LWS saying he is super solid, the list goes on and on.

Also would like to point out that OCI is getting respect in the recruiting forum because the names he listed for staff are the same names leaking out in the press....just sayin.

Golden is nothing but someone hearing someone else say the name Golden, and if in fact the 3 interview requirement is in play, and Dooley has privately been released then I could see them using Golden as one of their interviews. With that said it is NOT going to be Al Golden.

thank you Carter..... just getting a little antsy!

:pepper:

FWIW, I heard it was done and the only thing left was figuring out the assistant coach pay, and Tee Martin is leaving USC to come back to be recruiting coordinator.

Martin is at KY.......

Sorry dude, I defended you when you got blasted for calling Ainge an idiot on Twitter but I don't see how someone that covers sports makes that kinda mistake. And he said Tee was at USC and you corrected him and said KY so it wasn't a brain fart. That's not a derp that's a WTF man!

Remember....he also said earlier this week that he was going to get Tee on the phone. I'm guessing that effort was unsuccessful.

One has a losing record as a coach, the other has zero head coaching experience. Neither qualified for an SEC school, IMO, JMO.

I will start out by saying I am in no form or fashion a insider and have as many "sources" as Jerry from Bulls Gap, however I recieved a tweet this AM from a close friend whos wife is a school teacher in the Knoxville. Per the obvious, she has many outlets and friends in the Knox Co school system and she has been told by multiple Webb teachers (close friends) that the Gruden's were 100% on Webb's campus earlier in the week.

Grain of salt but I thought I would fuel the fire.

Wouldn't Catholic be a more obvious choice?
