The NCAA thing is interesting in its timing.

It makes me wonder if that was one of the issues that Gruden's camp was concerned about.

He says, I want that cleared up, our administration says to the NCAA, what can we accept to end the investigation, then negotiate and end-point, problem solved.

One way or the other, it is not that bad considering it could have been worse.

Exactly!! The coaches should be punished 70% and the school 30%. We should have been up Kiffin's @$$ while he was here to make sure he wasn't breaking rules, but the coaches are the ones hiding the stuff, and lying. They should be punished worse.:banghead2:

On a side note Gruden is the only coach I want at this point and will be disappointed with anybody else. But if its Golden then disappointment won't be close to what I am feeling.

We don't need permission to talk to his agent, who probably is also an agent to other coaches too. There are ways around it.

I believe the problem lies in why it doesn't follow Kiffin as much as some of the Pearl and Tressel show causes is, Lane left on his own. Had he not taken the USC job Hamilton was not going to fire him. To the NCAA it looks that we din't care about following the rules.

I understand but was it proven somebody at Tennessee knew it happened or should have known?

Not smoke, but that has been lingering for 3 years now. The timing seems really suspicious since many have said that several roadblocks were recently removed to make way for Gruden.

I can only imagine that Gruden would not want to deal with it soon after being hired so he may have forced UT to remove any obstacles, ie negotiating a quick out with the NCAA.

Just a theory, and not one I necessarily believe. The timing just seems incredible to me.
