Just wondering....
IF we lose to Vandy this week. Is there any chance that Hart finally comes out and makes this DD firing official and states that the UK game will be his last and that they are starting an official coaching search? Meanwhile dooley gets carried off the field after UK win......HA

Id bet not. Not after what has gone down here today!!! If all this is true...why would it matter, at the end result?

I don't know. I think it is going to continue along the same path it currently is on--which probably is a good thing for us.

There will not be an assistant or relatively new head coach. UT will allow Hart to make the hire and has been told to go get a proven head coach whether it is NCAA or Gruden. UT cannot afford to continue losing money (last year they lost 5 million) and there is to much pride in the football program to not get it right this time. The board understands that the firing of Fulmer AND Chavis was handled wrong by Hamilton and Hamilton got to hire Lane and Dooley on his own, not this time. There will be input/pressure this time to get it right. Everyone is done with Dooley but nothing will be done until the end of the season officially.

And in other news, Arkansas governor Fred Plebo Wrightsmith has declared the next two weeks a time of official statewide mourning over the collapse of the dreams of pig football fans. These fans had been delusionally living under the notion that a top class coach like Jon Gruden would actually want to come to their sad little state. Nothing could be further from the truth. Said Wrightsmith "well I reckon we just plain lost the whole hog there."

Someone should e-mail Hart and attach all 70,000 comments from the six Gruden threads.

That should make him realize that failure is not an option and that Gruden is the only option.

I am very familiar with the professional world as I have been in the "professional world" for going on 20 years. I am not some young college wet behind the ears kid. Business is business and college football is big business!

That being said, you bring more issues into this than I was presenting. My bone of contention specifically relates to Gruden and his MNF gig, and nothing else!!!

Whatever relationship Gruden has with Dooley is a separate issue that really does not relate to his MNF gig. I would dare to say that Gruden is not "friends" with Dooley in the normal meaning of the term friends however I digress.

The point I am making so as to clarify it to you and anyone else who is reading is that Gruden could complete his MNF gig this year and be announced as the next HC at UT. It would actually be a very simple thing and would dispel any concerns NFL owners and coaches may have regarding Gruden's possibility of coaching in the NFL.

I have not really criticized any of the other potential reasons for keeping the Gruden deal quiet if there is a deal.

Do you not think there are more people and companies involved and those said companies have a say so in this matter as well?

Keeping DD on board allows for all the things from both UTAD and Gruden to get worked out and that does not mean announcing DD's termination with 2 games left in the season. An official search has to be started and that will not happen till after KY but if you know you have your guy, speeding up things only looks bad on UT and Gruden.

I would also think ESPN and their deep pockets will have a say so as to when this news can be released since they are going to have to negotiate a new contract with MNF sponsors and find the guy they will want to promote to replace Jon.
