However, the past several days have brought an enlightening new source to my life regarding the boosters at UT...specifically the Haslam's.

This guy and I played baseball together, he played college baseball at Western KY, was associated with the NY Yankees organization in some capacity after that, and now apparently owns a business with Bill and Jim Haslam.

His elderly mother, of all people, contacted me a few days ago...sent me my buddy's phone number (865) area code, and told me to call him.

I left him a message yesterday, has not retuned my call.

His mother emailed me AGAIN this morning and told me I need to talk to him about the Gruden situation.

Cutting a small part of that email out...she said "I don't know all the names of these coaches like you guys do, but he does. I had to sit through 2 hours of all that football jibberish last night. Trust me, you need to talk to him."

So I replied....to her, "I called him and left a message. Did he tell you I called? He's probably in a proprietary situation with all of this and I understand If he doesn't contact me back. But Mrs ____,can you please tell me one thing in all that jibberish? Is UT close to finalizing things with Gruden and his staff?"

I sent that an hour or so ago...

I'm obviously waiting on a response or a phone call.

Tht why I'm asking form someone on here that claims to be close to the Haslam's to reach out to me...so I can verify.

I sold both of my Harleys when my son was born. Got 4 door Sierra. It's nice, but not a toy. I need that.

You can come hang out it with us in Straw Plains. We've the got the bagger, the road king, and the dyna ...and of course a chopper....oh and a dirt bike! ....lol lot's of man toys too ...bobcat, dump trucks ....oh and a shooting range ....lol

If babyvols numbers are correct, AND Gruden won't come without Morris, AND we decide not to pay that money, I can't blame whoever at UT is making that call. Hopefully Gruden will have some flexibility in who he wants to work with at OC.

Gonna de-lurk here and say this: I have been following the Gruden story closely since the rumors started last year, ha...I am not gonna get hung up on the Clemson guy...I just don't see Gruden nixing the deal if we don't pay his buy out...sounds like he loves Tennessee too much to do that...

BTW, I have been thoroughly enjoying the JG threads...you guys keep me going everyday...I believe in miracles...we'll get Gruden...the time is right...it's just perfect...

Boro, I heart ya! Your calm and steady as she goes posts are just what we need...thanks!!

Okay, this ol' gal is going back to lurkdom...y'all keep up the good work! :D

I think bray has a better than 10% chance of staying mainly because his draft stock isn't very high. If Gruden does come I could see Bray staying though I do think he has a higher chance of going. Cordarelle depends on his grades, but I do believe they are too low and would make him ineligible next year so he's probably gone. I don't see anything short of divine intervention keeping Hunter from going pro.

Why all the secrecy, the subterfuge by anyone and everyone associated with a coaching hire? This isn't the Pentagon and a matter of national security. The waiting is starting to reeeeaaaaallly piss me off......

Cordarelle wouldnt even be eligible for bowl game. That is if we make it to one.

I disagree about Bray but we will see. I think he knows he would kill the combine and is the most purely skilled QB in the country. I think coming out of the combine he would be one of the first 2 QB's selected and I think CP and JH will both be in the first 5 receivers drafted with Hunter being #1 of receivers. Bray knows this, I know he knows this. Forgetting about how many O-Linemen will be leaving too. He will lose most of his guys up front, his 2 best receivers, and will go no later then mid 2nd round. I personally think late 1st round. I cannot state enough how the NFL looks for potential and you cannot find a QB in college football today with more potential and pure talent than Tyler Bray.

I read all forums and I sure don't troll. I've never seen so many people believe all the bs I'm hearing. Everyone on this board needs a reality check. I'm sorry. I hope we get a good coach but it will not be Gruden.
