Official Jon Gruden Thread VIII

Well I had a doe and fawn walk by me in my tree stand. Let them walk. Nothing with horns, so sad! But a great day to spend in the woods.

Came very close to nailing an 8 point with my truck (I think it looked like 4 and 4) just after leaving Poland Creek boat ramp on Tuesday. We watched him clear two 5-6' fences and fade into the woods.

Not me. It sounds like his info lines up with all the others but is a little behind. The hurdle that was jumped the other night might be the coordinators pay.

I find it hard to believe they can put so much time and effort into getting Gruden but they let the entire deal fall apart due to an assistant coach.

My hope is Candy chokes under the lights tonight.

Ha ha. How about this?

Vandy claims they were robbed last year at Tennessee. They want revenge. The game is at Vandy. UT has the worse coach in the history of UT football. Looking good for Vandy?

Nope. Vandy still gets smoked. :eek:lol:

Just wanna say thanks to patti and everybody keeping the cliff notes thread updated!!!!!!! Please continue it! Especially this weekend since I won't be able to follow as closely as normal. Please keep it updated with even the slightest news!! Thanks again!

Its always the same progression each day lol. Its funny. Let an hour or two go by without what is termed as "information" and people say the vibe is down. They latch onto any post that looks like information and by the next page, the conversation has changed. Its a funny study in social media dynamics imo. People post stuff like "Ok Boro hasnt posted all morning, must be problems". It gets old saying the same thing, and there is nothing else to say right now.

Like I said, if there is something else to say regarding Gruden before the Kentucky game it will most likely not be good information.

When you ask your wife to marry you, and she says yes, and you set a date, do not ask here every 5 minutes if she is sure. She said yes. Thats where we are with Gruden. Could we get left at the altar because something gets screwed up? Sure, anything is possible but usually when they say "yes" the actual "taking of vows" is only a formality. That's where we are.

Couple of thoughts I had while driving back from the Nashville area last night.

1- I have been a lurker on here (Volnation) for many years and I have followed (read: lived in) this one thread since the beginning of 'episode 1'. During the drive I was thinking how cool it will be to meet many of you on the kick-off of the new football order, be that the O & W game or First home game. Then I got to thinking, I am mostly a lurker, and I was envisioning myself walking up to the tailgate and saying 'hi poster so-in-so, I'm such-in-such and have been following your post/work for some time now....' kinda gave me a bit of a stalker feeling..... :ninja:

2- I have family in the 'department' and it is all cloak and dagger like. No-one really has heard anything to this point. The ones that really should know (due to planning future stuff) have no idea what is/has happened. Just thought it was an interesting point and wanted to share. Doubt it really means that much in the big picture, just is a lot different then the past. I am sure the fact that there are much fewer people employed now vs. years past has some impact (less people to talk or fear of job security).

Anyway, every day above ground is a good day to be a Vol!

What day did you say the mou was signed.
Not questioning you. In your conversations, have you heard anything about gruden's agent.

Thanks

No...I didn't say that, to be clear. I have been following the lead of the credible posters here. And using my business instincts to make sense of it all to myself.

However, the past several days have brought an enlightening new source to my life regarding the boosters at UT...specifically the Haslam's.

This guy and I played baseball together, he played college baseball at Western KY, was associated with the NY Yankees organization in some capacity after that, and now apparently owns a business with Bill and Jim Haslam.

His elderly mother, of all people, contacted me a few days ago...sent me my buddy's phone number (865) area code, and told me to call him.

I left him a message yesterday, has not retuned my call.

His mother emailed me AGAIN this morning and told me I need to talk to him about the Gruden situation.

Cutting a small part of that email out...she said "I don't know all the names of these coaches like you guys do, but he does. I had to sit through 2 hours of all that football jibberish last night. Trust me, you need to talk to him."

So I replied....to her, "I called him and left a message. Did he tell you I called? He's probably in a proprietary situation with all of this and I understand If he doesn't contact me back. But Mrs ____,can you please tell me one thing in all that jibberish? Is UT close to finalizing things with Gruden and his staff?"

I sent that an hour or so ago...

I'm obviously waiting on a response or a phone call.

Tht why I'm asking form someone on here that claims to be close to the Haslam's to reach out to me...so I can verify.

You must get talkative when youre drinking.

When I first started reading this thread, I thought you guys were nuts for believing Gruden would come... I started believing around Gruden V. But I just have a feeling that the people running the show at UT are somehow gonna find a way to screw it up, it's just the Tennessee way.

Chad morris buyout at clemson would be 6.5 million if he left for another spot that wasnt a head coach, according to babyvol. That makes him unrealistic, IMO.

I'm starting to think the same.

Wasn't sure if this was oneof the ones you were referring to but here goes:
