I would suggest that on his star power alone, his first year recruiting would be relatively easy. IF (big IF) Gruden comes, it will be the biggest coaching hire in the NFL or NCAA and will get tons of media attention, which is good. Kids know him and respect him. His first year, coupled with our brand new facilities could be a game changer. Then the rubber hits the road. It then becomes an issue of showing real improvements on the field for him to be able to keep that up.
Kids want to go to Bama for the chance of championships and the exposure to go to the next level. Same thing for places like Oregon and others. If you think a kid goes wild to for the chance to play with a flashy team like Oregon with 1000 uniforms, imagine what they would do to coach for a TV personality who is considered one of the most respected football minds on the planet. Having a MNF announcer in their living room would be huge. Gruden could get them, inititally, then he just has to win. just my humble opinion.
Well stated. I agree with all of it. We live in a Jersey Shore world. Name recognition alone will eliminate some of our natural recruiting disadvantages for the first couple of years.
