I do believe the timeline has moved up from the original Dec 17th announcement date to a Monday/Tuesday post SEC title game announcement.

Dec 3rd-4th week is what I would put money on now.

A Gruden hire would be great. If any one of another 15 coaches are hired, I would be fine with it. A capable coach would have had this team at 8-9 wins and a good New Years Day bowl game in a warm climate. We are not that far away. Once the players know their HC is a winner and will not find a way to lose, we will turn the corner. If we do not get Gruden, so be it. We will still be alot better in 2013.

Good points OP. I think with what TN has been through the past five years, what TN needs from this hire is for the Coach's past record to instill a little hope back in the fan base. Obviously Gruden does that. Others could also, but an "up and comer" may have a difficult time putting "hope" back into TN without proving it on the field first.
