Its going to happen when it happens, The announcement will be EPIC when it happens.

It is what it is.

Jay, for the first time during this entire process, I think it could happen, from a conversation I just had a few minutes ago.

Noone can say that we aren't going for it. I didn't think we would due to obstacles, and I didn't think Gruden would do it. The first part is done. Now, does Gruden want it or not.

Could a new username be in order? Perhaps Grudacusvolus? :)

They have similar stories to us involving Tysons, and BOT members, and Jerry Jones, and MOUs. I trust our people, but the idea that Gruden is possibly accepting bids makes me nervous. The Cindy factor is our Ace in the hole.

Also, Johnny Majors, and Gruden's history with UT. You never forget your first job and first mentor.

Here here.

Another interesting tidbit. His payments from Tampa bay ended this year. That may be the driving force behind his wanting to get back into coaching right now. It just so happens that the UT job opened up. It's like a perfect storm except with football. The rest of the nation better hunker down. Hurricane Gruden just got upgraded to Category 5.
His son also graduated high school before this season and is playing football at a college in Pennsylvania. He had been helping coach his sons high school team

I don't ever get too excited until something happens, in any situation. I just didn't think it could all come together. Still not sure, but I didn't think the a dept would cooperate at such a level.
I believe the millions of dollars lost already and potentially with empty seats and sales of everything related to UT was explained in detail to those that make decisions that relate to UT's cash flow.
It's a tough lesson to learn in business sometimes, but you got to spend money to make money, and sometimes you have to put it on the line if you believe in a plan.

Very solid. Liking Hart more and more. Until this I wasn't sure but imo this has been handled to perfection. He has the appearance of giving Dooley every possible opportunity all the while knowing it was over and getting the ball rolling to set things up to make a huge impact hire. If everything pans out like I believe it will he will have stamped his name in UT history books.

No one in particular just overall. I also started hearing it a month or so before posting it. Talked to some big $$$ at Florida game that were sold it would happen. I was still all "we are gonna beat Florida and win 9 games" bought in. Then it picked up steam and people I never imagined talking about it were. Everyone from former players, current players families, UT coaches of other sports, former AD members, $$$$, and current UT media people started talking about it. Then I found the thread in II I think, had not been on VN much in a long time before that. What certain people were saying lined up almost exactly. That's when I bought in. I wavered when I was told by a VERY trusted UT alumni that he said no and it was over only to completely reversed again on "Orange Tuesday" as I have started to call it haha. I started celebrating then. Everything here matched his info even the hiccup between Bama and Troy whatever it was. Will forget someone but Boro, DTO, Jay, Lex, OCI, and others here from near the beginning are good people that obv love the Vols and bring good things to this community.

It would take a screw up of monumental proportions for this to not happen. Like I told my kids, this is going to be the most exciting hire possibly in college football history.

And we are here for it, ain't it cool?

Not sure what I will do once this is all over, never was a FF guy. Maybe Freak will give us an OG Sports Bar forum so to speak where those of us that have gotten to know each other so well can have a place to discuss UT football, cats, politics, whatever. We have become a community within a community.

I'm with you on the forum. I have tried to venture out and decided it was in my best interest to stay here :)

IF, and that's a big IF, Gruden ended up in Arkansas next year, it would be because our administration was hopelessly incompetent, and completely screwed this up.

We would have no one to blame but ourselves (or at least our administration) for it.

Still makes zero sense to me why nothing about Gruden and Arkansas was mentioned by national media until Dooley was fired. There was absolutely no reason why Arkansas talk shouldn't have aready been thrown out there all season long.

I am another one of "those" who have been here lurking for the last month. I now know why Hostess is closing their doors. They obviously became addicted to this forum and could not get any work done. My business productivity is pathetic since I found you.

I've been praying the last 5 years for my Chucky fix to become a reality. My favorite coach and my favorite team is a match made only in heaven... I will admit that in the beginning I read for my own entertainment and then you ended up convincing me this was real. Now, I can't sleep or work. I hold each of you permanently responsible for my demise.

You made me go where I have never gone before and cross a line that I promised to never cross. I have one connection that would definitely be in the "know". Out of respect for our friendship and his/her position, I have never crossed the line and put him/her on the spot. Last week we were texting and I finally said something to the effect that if Gruden wasn't coming, to please just put me out of my misery. The response was more than odd. He/she said, "love you both and miss you"

The text left me jumping around and screaming like a banshee. Trust me, if there wasn't something to all of this Gruden talk, they would have immediately told me "no way" Instead they changed the subject completely.

Oh, by the way, Did I tell you, I love this place????

Sit down buckle up and enjoy the grudentastic ride .

Here's a thought...

Does the Gruden-to-Arkansas chatter benefit UT's chances of landing Gruden? Would our proud boosters be "outbid" by Arkansas's boosters? Has Hart orchestrated this Arkansas chatter to put pressure on Cheek and certain boosters to come through or risk our top target choose another SEC school?

It would be because Arky kept upping the ante. We won't get in a bidding war

Sorry if already asked but does Arkansas have a state income tax? With the amount of money on the line it seems like that could be a factor as well.

GBO!

Werent their similar stories Troll jobs by VN folk??? Thought that was discussed already.

It's a silly thought.

While I don't think there's any serious interest between Gruden and Arky, his agent wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't try to leverage the situation to maximize the amount of $$$ he could get his client.
