Official Jon Gruden Thread VIII

Read on Twitter that UT offered Gruden 38 mil for five years. Any truth?

No one knows for sure, but that seems outlandish, especially if it is base salary. I could see incentives reaching around 6.5 to 7 but not a base of 7.6. The most popular numbers are 5 for 7+years and 4 or more for his assistants.

It will all come out in the wash, just know UT has agreed to pay him and he has agreed in principle to come, the insiders have spoken...

Could be the reason everyone has been so quiet in the AD and Gruden front.... wanted this announcement to end first

All the "in the knows" said weeks ago that there were a few things that had to be cleared up before JG would come. Since that time we:

1) apparently have informed Dooley he is gone

2) held a BOT vote on $ reporting, which the importance of may be nothing, but it may have some effect way down the road (I know nothing about this at all)

3) suddenly, without warning, saw a long NCAA investigation come to a conclusion

All of this within a couple of days of each other AND at which time those in the know said an MOU was signed AND during which time several reasonable NFL analysts suggested that Gruden was interested.

Even a die-hard skeptic would have to raise an eyebrow.

I failed to read the last sentence of JH's post where it says "But he still thinks they take a pro team"

Does point that direction.... I have been here from Gruden I and have always been 100% that I wanted him.... today I am at 85% he is coming

Based on the exchange I had with Boro, I certainly feel boomish.

Of course I never needed a lot of convincing. I think that Gruden was always interested in the UT job. The timing was never right.

UT is, and always will be, a desirable job (the post Kiffin year notwithstanding).
