If you REALLY know what you're looking at and, like me, grew up around the game, then hockey is a fantastic sport on TV, sometimes better than football IMO. Keep in mind that I've been on skates since I was born, the game is in my blood.

Now a sport I simply can't stand to watch on TV: basketball. If the NBA were to implode and entirely cease to exist, I'm not sure I'd ever notice with the exception that there'd be more hockey coverage on ESPN.

This is my kind of guy.

I've explained the rules and strategies of hockey to friends who are now hockey fans after years of giving it no respect.

I'm the opposite. Whenever the NHL damages its own popularity by cancelling games, it means more basketball on SportsCenter, but I feel a tad different than before, having attended a couple of very good games in Tampa recently. I'm not a big NBA fan either. I prefer college, though KY is making college hoops less fun.

With a team like the Barracudas in the area you live in (I used to live in Jax), I understand why you don't like hockey. But yeah, we're pretty much polar opposites. My heart was broken when basketball returned on Christmas Day last year.

I became a hockey fan once I figured out offsides and icing. Got my brother hooked when I explained it to him.
