Well I have been studying on the thread moving forward and it just now occurs to me that JG's comment about the Eagle's scout squad could be smoke too if the plan is to deflect at the moment. If you think about it, its kind of a silly comment.

The ultimate smokescreen will be when Golden is named HC. Gruden will be hidden in the booth calling all the shots. In order to maintain the smokescreen, Hart has arranged for him to continue his gig MNF as well. It's going to be awesome!

I think that there are multiple angles.

One theory is that they don't want it to seem that they were negotiating with Gruden while Dooley was HC.

Another theory is that Gruden's camp has been insistent on keeping it silent until they are ready to announce it.

Yet another theory is that because of the magnitude of the deal, they want to limit having to answer questions about it, so they purposely mislead people to deflect.

Of course, all of these could be true, or none of them could be.

I much prefer the way this year's transition has been and is being handled compared to the public trainwrecks that Hamilton conducted in '08 and '10.

Hamilton was an open book - he had no idea how to manage the situation by controlling the information available to the media.

I think its hoopla that Hart didnt contact any coaches this week. Hart knows who the next coach will be, he just wanted to wait for our seniors to have their day, and believe it or not, respecting DD. Would have been pretty s****y IMO to fire a guy then announce the next head coach within a couple days, especially the last week of the season.

This is what he does. When things are up he comes in here, and jumps up and down with everyone.

When things are down he acts like everyone is dumb for thinking it could be Gruden.
