Well I've got cousins that went to briarcrest when he was there. Have nothing but respect for the guy. Said he was very involved in his players lives and was a great role model for lots of people. Met him once as well and was blown away by his character and how humble he was.

If by very involved u mean recruiting players to his highschool team and fixing grades and transcripts for eligibility, then yes.. He was very involved with his players lives.

if academic reigns are that tight, how did Lanier and CP get in, among others.

I believe they use the JuCo GPA in any major for admission but are one of the few schools that do not count it toward the cumulative at UT. Not hard to get a 2.5 in JuCo majoring in "undeclared" or "interpersonal human relationships" lol.

We are speculating on speculation at this point.

All of that is a possibility. I just think that all parties can be totally in and reach a point where it is impossible for the deal to go through. That doesn't mean that all parties don't want it, it just means it can't happen.

Let's say JG is going to be the highest paid head coach in the college ranks (which would put him pretty high on the NFL list, I am sure). Is it more unreasonable that UT decides to stand firm on some administration or hierarchy demands? I mean they could say listen, we are already paying you more than any coach in the history of college football and you have no wins or losses, surely you can understand that we need X. If you need X, maybe you can just take a little less money and everyone is happy.

That's my point. BOTH sides have to be willing to give.
