True story. My wife and I were taking the boys out to eat. Just as we were pulling out of the driveway, they asked, "where are we going?" Told them to a certain steak house. They started in about not wanting to go there. My wife looks at me and says turn around. Turned around and went back to the house, put the truck in park. She hands them a twenty and says, get out! As they stood in front of the truck dumbfounded, we both laughed as we backed out of the driveway and went to eat a steak. The oldest was 17 so they could go get something.

Sounds like you done the 17 year old a favor. did the younger sibling get anything to eat?

I feel like we wont get gruden during the day, but then at night when all of the super double secret info comes out I think we might get him.

Does anyone else know of an instance where the Knoxville media put a "smokescreen" around these type of issues?

This search reminds me a lot of the baseball search. The main target is obvious but things have to get worked out and the media has to be kept at bay. Hyams would sit right next to John Wilkerson everyday and say his sources were saying Holbrook, Dan McDonnell etc...and every now and then when a caller would ask JOHN a question he'd slip Serrano's name in.

The local media was sooooo bad, I actually signed up for a free trial with a USCe sight, Perfect Game and luckily the CSF forum was free and very connected. The national media was saying one thing and the local media saying the opposite. Local media was wrong 90% of the time.

And one can never forget the black jersey/hyams affair. While not a coaching search, it goes to show that the AD will lie to the media...and if they'll do it over jerseys seems like to do it in a situation like this...well.

I truly believe, at this point, anyone not named Gruden or Stoops being hired is going to be a huge blow to this program.

Even my wife is asking me for daily updates on Gruden and she's only a casual, albeit committed UT fan. She had no idea who the guy was until this started.

This could be the finest hour or the Challenger explosion. That's all I can imagine at this point. IMHO.

Per Skeeter-

If what im hearing this morning is correct, and i believe it is, time to move on from Gruden. No doubt Gruden would inject enthusiasm in the fan base and turn the heads of high profile recruits. But the man is unproven at the college level and simply wants to much control, not to mention the guy is a egomaniac. From what im gathering, its sounding like he feels he should not have to answer to anyone anything football related if he were the coach. That will not happen here. Time for plan b.
