Because he's the only "good" hire that isn't coaching now and attached to a program. Saban, Miles, Stoops, Meyer, Carroll, Spurrier, Kelly...all are employed and winning and have no.reason to leave to come here. Grudens not, pretty simple. Rucker is such a tool bag!

So assuming Gruden is over (and reviewing all evidence in hindsight it seems questionable that it ever was considered a REAL possibility) you would have rather kept Dooley?

Otherwise we would be in the same situation, looking for a coach that wasn't Dooley or Gruden. Seems we are there now...

I don't recall giving an opinion one way or the other in this thread. But after reading the comments of JG's agent...I just believe that was way over the top. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

Local media says it's not happening.

Gruden's agent says it's not happening.
People citing Gruden sources say it's not happening.
People citing AD sources say it's not happening.
Fans think it might still happen.

What exactly doesn't add up or seems odd about that?

I think it is still happening.... but then again... I have always been stuborn that way :good!:

It's clear that there was something there, and in the end it couldn't get done and the two sides are trying to save face.

Whatever. Time to move on.

This hire is no less important to the future of Tennessee athletics than it was 48 hours ago.

Still a chance to do something positive. Admittedly I have my doubts, but I do know that if Hart screws this up he'll be run of of town on a rail. Soon. And that makes me believe he still could make a good hire.

But that confidence is just a little shaken right now.

I am all for winning. I have been a season ticket holder for over 15 years. My daughter attends UT. I pay my money to the school. I want to win as much as anyone does but I am starting to think I might just want someone that is excited to be here and just maybe if it is a good coach we will start winning. Hart still has a job to do and get us a good coach. I still hope its Chucky. :salute:

Apparently most folks on this forum have never been involved in the business of getting deals done.....

It could be and sounds like the deal is dead. BUT, it may not be. This is a complicated thing, we have heard more S**t coming out the last month on this than is in Washington. Deals are tough, both sides, if they are really good will hold out to the last 5 seconds before agreeing to a deal.

Im not as sold on Gruden as most, I agree he is a football icon, but beyond that Im not sold out 100%.

It will not be over until another coach steps up to the podium.

That's exactly right. I have seen knock down drag out fights over contracts only to end in a toast of saki to "the future". It's business.

I always 100% told the truth about what was said to me and in my presence. I never made one thing up, never said 100% he IS coming, and never once closed the door to the possibility of being wrong. Thats all I can do. I have posted pictures of my family and people I know and have talked to. I am just unsure why all the vitriol toward me specifically when I never offered a guarantee. I only posted what I was hearing and being told. Jake, Lex, GMan, Boro, and Jayvols all know who I am personally, where I work, and who told me what.

If I were going to bring bull**** to the board I would have gone to far greater lengths to conceal my identity from everyone lol.

You really need to just ignore anything being spewed at you. You're a straight up guy. Not worth thinking twice about.

Boro, does anyone know when Jon's last payment from the Glazer's occurs? If there were even a sniff of him taking another coaching job they'd have their legal dept all over not making that last payment.

Something really is strange about all this if you just try and be objective. No way all thse people and their sources just made all this up.

1. Hart messed this up at the 11th hour as some suggested (which will lead to him being fired IMO cause the the boosters being pissed)

2. Things started leaking out too quick for the timeline they had. Keep in mind we originally heard not till mid Dec. was this to be announced cause of various things...tampa check, MNF, and other deals possibly. So they had to make it seem like no deal is possible.

Am pissed like everyone, but we all need to take a step back and just see how it plays out. Too much doesn't make sense right now to just freak out.

I agree , something just don't sound right, didn't someone say they had been working on this since Oct., I think things were leaking out way to fast and they needed to put a stop to it as quickly as they could, Hart did say mid Dec, and that would align with the last MNF game, who knows.....just my thought.....GO VOLS!!

btw like others have said I still appreciate all the info the OG's have brought us and putting themselves out there like that. No matter how this turns out it was fun. And I will still appreciate more info in the future about things if and when you have some to share.
