Makes sense with Ainge's story from the knife works guy yesterday.

At least as much sense as anything else I've heard.

Think about. A lot af people are mad about Lamonte Fantasy Land comment. Tell someone they are not good enough and they will spend every dime they have proving you wrong.

Do you guys think that any of the rumored coaches we're looking at, if offered and accept, would be named coach before their bowl game? I mean some of those guys have the potential to be in very good bowl games. There's a chance that we have our man and if he's currently employed, he finishes out his current season before we hear any announcement, which would mean we hear nothing until the first of the year.

Louisville. Period.

Still don't like him, but that place is a tough pull.

Plus, why recruit hard if you know you are leaving soon.

Ok, I'll see your point and raise you another question:

Why can't he out-recruit Temple, UAB, Tulane, UCF, UConn, Iowa State?

(I'm glad you don't like him, but let's see this through!)

I don't understand this whole they will be interviewing coaches while in NYC thing during CPF induction.

Are we speed dating for the next head football coach?

Doesn't make much sense to me, if you have your guy, fly him into Knoxville and interview him.

It reeks of desperation, and like we don't have a clue who we want? IMO

Yeah I get the same impression. The whole hyping of this NYC conference seems weird/low-level.

I honestly don't know what to think.
I don't think I'm being trolled by the 2 boosters I know. They were both so confident about Friday.

I really believe that the Memphis story put Hart and Gruden in a position that due to a certain timeframe they developed the story that came out Friday through his agent. If I am right they decided to keep information between themselves so there wouldn't be more leaks. This meant that a lot of boosters were left looking stupid. This has ended almost all talk of Gruden to TN so whatever the reason for making announcement after a certain date. I do not have any type of insider information just years of experience. I know when what I am being told is not right.

hmmm, what do u know suddenly theres no mention of grudens name in govols247 daily report. plus an article on there site has headline "so the gruden drama ends". hmm seems a little funny.

im still all in, silence is our friend:)

Or it could just be exactly what they say it is...who knows...They better pull something major at the end cause UT is getting left in the wind right now by everybody

Again, why the top secrecy with Gruden? From the cliff notes, I really don't think it would be Tampa. Is it ESPN? If it is that, what does it matter if he announces now or at the end of MNF? Doesn't he have a long term contract with them?

I think it's just the way he is. Super secretive and private. His agent as well.
Did ANYONE even sniff that he was going to TB before it went down?

This interviewing during hof weekend sounds so stupid. Is he going to have them fill out a job application, give three references and take a drug test also. Good grief.

Not laughing...Twitter sucks right now. :bad:

Hence the all caps. Poking fun. RT @fraydog: The Gruden thing is deader than dead though.

GRUDEN RT @RiyMallahi: Look, you need something to believe in if you're a Tennessee fan. Might as well be conference superiority.

I'm in Gruden limbo and that is where I shall remain until the announcement of a coach is made.

Wait, whut? :ermm:

That's either interesting, concerning, confusing or infuriating, depending upon one's view of the last several seasons of his tenure I suppose.

Yea, I see what you mean:

2000 8-4
2001 11-2
2002 8-5
2003 10-3
2004 10-3
2005 5-6
2006 9-4
2007 10-4
2008 5-7

This along with 3 trip to the SECCG's and 3 wins in 7 bowl games is terrible compared to what we have seen since his firing. 4 seasons with O SECCG's; 2 losses in 2 bowl games

2009 7-6
2010 6-7
2011 5-7
2012 5-7

I don't think we will wait that long. Hart was pretty clear about "December being a very critical month."

Weeks have been spent building anticipation for the signing of Gruden. Now we are told he is not coming because he wanted too much money and the boosters are mad at Hart. What if this build up and take away were designed to gain financial support from booster who are not currently giving for Gruden? Now the news is out that Gruden is not coming because we can't meet his demands. The AD can now go to presently uninvolved boosters and as for money to save the hire, or since the current donations were for Gruden, to hire someone else.

I would think to get money for the next coach on the list. I have heard several people in my area and the guy from Smokey Mountain Knife Works on the radio say they have been contacted by the Tennessee Fund about booster money with in the last couple of days. Makes me think they need money to hire someone other than Gruden incase the big $$$ guys pull out on them...but what do I know. I am sure yall will tell me nothing...lol

I kind of wondered if that was directed at Tennessee or the boosters, just a strange wording and comment.

I'm sorry, but I still think we get Gruden. I know I'm amongst friends here. It cleared the build up and drama. Things were just getting too out of hand. I can't even think about other possibilities. I get sick to my stomach thinking that J. Fisher or another "gamble hire" like strong would be best for our program.
