Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

Davis is evidently friends with Gruden and this is relevant to my interests. And it keeps the conspiracy afloat. :ninja:

I have heard this twice now on Nashville Radio. Former Vol coach Doug mathews does a weekly college show on saturdays and has Charles on just about every week. And I have heard a caller ask him and Doug has stated that Charles is very well connected with coaches through out the country and if UT calls he would listen and more than likely come. But the key thing here is I think Davis or Fulmer would do what is best for the university and not themselves. IMO this is the problem we have now.

All things considered - fisher is prob our best bet now. I keep hearing these crazy names like fulmer...10 yrs of losing the big game (but at least it would just be that one game). Stoops....pipe dream. Strong, golden, sweeney, gundy, smart, etc......the water here is way too deep for these guys (just ask dooley). Tressel and petrino.....why not just add kiffin to that list too. Maybe a dark horse that could unite fanbase and stiffen the defense at the same time is chavis. Anybody heard if we, or he, has any interest in that?

You've obviously no knowledge of Tarzan..

The only thing is Liper and others are saying that the AD/Hart is, to put it nicely, not being helpful!

Like I said earlier, how would you like it if you were getting micromanaged and not included in a lot of these conversations that are taking place.

Hart is not stupid like a lot people are saying he is. He is actually intelligent and is a great business man. I mean how do you think he got the job?

But I do believe Hart and the boosters will make the right decision and UT will be great again!

I think the problem I am having with all these other names being thrown around that aren't "Tarzan" is just that...they aren't Tarzan. I'm finding it hard to get excited about the thought of ANY of them being the next HC. I usually go to one game a year, and usually it's one of the OOC games...my job doesn't allow me to take the time off to go to a game whenever I want...I have to take what can get and be happy I get to go at all.

I would have bought season tickets and lost the income to boot if we had got our guy...
The Red Wolf knows this and this will definitely make a difference.

I'm wondering if that's why Les Myles put that out there...is that something he's actually interested in doing now after 20 years as a coordinator??

According to Les Miles, Chavis would make a great HC at UT. Don't know how to take that considering how worthless lsu would be with Chavis taking care of business on the defense side of the ball

I think the beverages, sticky bananas, and peaches with Cool Whip have sent me into "fantasy land"(see what I did there?).:)

Have a Grude Night Everyone!

Peace.:peace2:

Thanks Paul, I hope you are correct.

Completely agree about the current problem. I hope somebody can do what's needed to get it resolved soon.

I have a feeling that most people are going to wrong about Hart. He didn't get his position being stupid. These guys are part business men part PR people. I don't believe for a minute that he is as clueless as it seems to all of us.

Maybe not, but you have to wonder...he gets fired from FSU for a series of management issues and FSU's president not liking the way he supervised the athletics department and the job he gets is to be Mal Moore's aide.

I hope so. I am still holding out hope, and like many here I'll keep on hoping until someone else is introduced. It's why I've been on here for a solid three hours after a 16 hour work day...

I love this thread

i say manning and the haslams are the driving force behind this gruden deal. seems to me like manning would be persistant in pursuing him. from what i hear they are friends. as someone pointed out , just saw gruden on mnf promo, he looked literally like hell. if it is true about his wife coming here, either he is torn between the two and is not getting what he is asking for, or already been hired and is stressed something is going leak before his deadline and he will be screwed out of a large portion of money. if that is the case, i think hart should be fired. it is his responsibilty to fire the previous coach and give the new coach the best opportunity to come in without causing a stir. the way this was handled is not worthy of what hart is being paid. actually it is a royal screw up. they could avoided all these problems by firing dooley two weeks later then they did. but then again maybe dooley found out he was canned and did not want to attend last game as reported and hart was forced into firing him. (who knows).

He looks like hell because his wife done whipped his azz for letting his agent dump all over her alma mater.

Liper,

The name you are hearing, is it a tier 1 type hire or a tier 3?

Sorry guys. Ive been on the phone for about an hour. Interesting times...

I wasn't told a name. This came from a different place. More "official" channels. I asked but they wouldn't budge." they acted like I'd be pleased, but I didn't say anything else because I thought, "No, I won't be pleased." I'm not staking my life on this but they seemed fairly definitive like we may have our guy already. Sorry I couldn't be more help there.

It looks like he gets crossways with people wherever he goes. The first sign here was the Pat Summitt affidavit. And now this.

Why do we continue to employee idiots as ADs?

Our guy as in our guy or our guy as in #2 guy.

Oh I have knowledge of The Apeman my friend. My original post tonite reads as follows:
This is the first time i've posted here, or anywhere for that matter, but this is an absolute cluster f*#k with this coaching search. My son is 8 yrs old and is quickly becoming an oregon and freakin bama fan. He's tries to like UT to make me proud but its just for show. There are major consequences to this program being in the tank for a few years now. Our tennessee youngsters are watching the big orange get their a**es handed to them on a weekly basis. My personal hope was to land gruden because he could bring top talent in right away and put neyland stadium into an absolute frenzy on big game nights....just like i grew up watching. Hopefully this would impact my 8 yr old and eventually our new son as well - but he's a few yrs away from going to a game. I hope they make a good hire, but da*# if this dont feel just like the days leading up to the last great hire. Media outlets are already calling this a "scramble" to find a coach now. If my boys grow up to be bama fans i will personally drive to knoxville and insert my boot directly into dave hart's a**. This school is made of money so lets open the ol' war chest and get back to playing with the big boys or risk losing an entire generation of volzfanz. Im officially gonna step down off the soapbox now.
So if tarzan is MIA, then plan b is fisher i guess, unless chavis is interested.

But not Gruden???

Is there a riff between Hart and big $$$$ donors?

If so how will it be resolved?

Sorry for all the questions.
