Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

It's not too hard to see that there was a blast of misinformation/STFU/spin this thing to everyone.

The fact that Hargis stood his ground is really important.

If it wasn't for him, I'd be doubting Grude too.

If this all works out and Hargis was right the whole time.. Wow.

He ought to win some kind of award for having the balls to tell the truth.

I know Ainge has been pushing Butch Davis pretty hard the last few days, but I'm not sold. Hopefully, Strong, Gundy, and Fisher are still in the mix. Assuming that Gruden really isn't coming of course ;)

I thought Hargis backed off his original stance. Am I wrong about that?

Hargis stated that "unauthorized sources" told some members of the Knox media that the deal with gruden was over. He did not backtrack, just stated what other people were reporting.

where are ocivol and sbv? not saying i think either is more credible than anyone else but have they been saying anything lately?

and what about skeet? hes been the most accurate from what i can tell so far....

We had lesser names turn us down last time why do we think we can do better this time. Unless we are really going outside the box, it's truly is the only thing that is making any sense to me anymore .

I was told second hand from high ranking booster that talked to a high ranking AD member on Thursday this:

They thought gruden was done numerous times and each time he added more demands. Either money or control

Finally after offering him anything and everything with him asking for even more they realized he wasn't going to accept any deal and they moved on.

It could be CYA info they gave to keep boosters happy but I don't think so. I think that story makes the OG's story correct except for Gruden willing to follow thru

Bruin based upon your posts since the Gruden deal went off the rails, you have placed the blame on Gruden and that basically he obviously did not want to come to UT because each time UT (donors and AD) thought the deal was done, Gruden kept throwing out more demands. I believe that you also said Gruden was some kind of attention whore. Is my understanding above correct?

While I don't believe that this is how it went down, I would concede that this may actually have occurred.

That being said, why is it that you absolutely refuse to see the other side of coin? Is it so hard for you to consider/concede that perhaps the fault lies with Hart, as some posters (supposedly in the know) have suggested. Many media sources have commented that Hart has quite the ego, some have even said he is a hard-ass (not in a positive way). Others have gone so far to say that some of the big $$$$ donors do not trust Hart. Hart has been involved in college athletics for years but he does not carry the clout of multi-millionaire agents and coaches and multi-millionaire/billionaire donors-business people. These big-time donors sphere of influence/power extends far beyond the confines of UT.

I guess what I am saying is that either scenario is quite plausible so to each their own. I will close with saying that Hart was wanting to keep Dooley around had he gone 7 and 5 which should make people question his decision making.

I agree! Like MACGRUDER, I listened to Hargis interviews several different times and I believe him too!:good!:

I have said for a while what we need is Fulmer to glad hand and Blackburn behind the scenes actually running things.

We put a face on the AD office and have the guy with experience running things with some sort if fancy title and substantial raise.

I still think that might be a bad idea. Do you know any lifelong coach who if put into an AD position of any type wouldn't want to meddle in some way?

Name any other AD at any college that you know who he is because there has NOT been a clusterbuck at his school....AD's are not supposed to be known, they work quietly in the background. We don't need a face and we don't need an ego, we need a great brain.

No OG here but yes I am in the its over crowd

I believe the people that are being very quite are indeed the people who know a little bit more of what is going on.

Lets not worry bout having all the answers bc that'll just drive you crazy. Instead lets talk about all the good that is coming out of this. For starters there's no more DD, these forums are uniting the fans and we are about to hire a great coach/staff!

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

I still haven't heard a response to this question from a negagrude.

Let's assume that Gruden's timeline all along was in a couple weeks after MNF was over.

And that Grude to UT really has been, on a high level, done for weeks.

What would you have expected to go differently on Friday?

The thing that pi$$es me off more than anything is the 'I told you so, you lowly morons' attitude that Hyams, Rucker, Pennington and the Doc crew will have this coming week....nauseating...naw zee ay ting, I tell ya......

This is true, if indeed Hart can get a good staff.

A lot of the names floating around are Dooley 1.5 IMO

Now, can we get our facts straight. Anybody care to back that up for me?

I was around since first thread but do not consider myself an OG.

I am not anti-Grude would still love to see him fine just think there is way less than a 1% chance. I don't like the term anti, seems to infer I wouldn't want him, and that's not the case at all.

I just threw up.

Hart could do far worse... In fact, I think he is actively trying to do far worse.

Todd Reeves @ToddReeves828

I heard that despite all the public reports to the contrary, Jon Gruden may still be in play for the Vols...
Anybody know this guy.
He just posted this
