I think we are getting a series of half truths, and that there is a severe lag on that info. The thing that started all of this was the Memphis report last week. I had several people tell me that news was going to break that evening. It is yet another event that I can't figure out. How did so many people know the story was coming that night?

It all points to things being orchestrated. And I hate coming to that conclusion because it makes no sense and is farfetched, but... What other answer is there if people know what's going to happen before it does.

Lex is all Grude.

Here is what I cannot reconcile (other than the lack of public denial from Hart or Gruden himself):

Three different people have said that Hart met with local law enforcement in regards to security for whenever the hire is announced. That was confirmed by different people with friends in law enforcement on this board.

How many candidates that we are supposedly interviewing require "security".

Flame away.

Maybe the security was for Hart.

I'm all Gruden

Hey Old Vol, Just so info on an old friend of yours that played basketball for UT when you were here.... J. Darden just coached his last b-ball game for our HS, he isn't retiring from teaching, just b-ball. He is the all time assist leader for UT 715 carreer asst.

I know there are a hundred different theories on what happened with Gruden and I'm not going to come up with another. My thing is this, if there was any truth to all the build up of being "almost done" or a "done deal", why did almost everybody just quit believing when an agent and a person "close to the AD" who did not want their named mentioned? We know that agents are liars because they are payed to protect their clients at all costs. And when someone says they are close to a situation yet will not allow their name to be mentioned leaves me to believe something is still happening. Every single high profile coaching search involves this kind of stuff. I still think Gruden needed more time and Hart needed more time to interview his required number of coaches. Think about this. If you were a coach such as Strong, Gundy, Fisher, or Golden and 90% of the fan base wanted another coach would you want to interview and take the chance of it getting out to your fan base? I am still 100% Gruden and will remain until he says so himself. Not through his agent or a anonymous AD employee.

So he can recruit at Oklahoma State even though he's #2 in the state for a state that produces very little BCS talent, but can't at UT?

Not buying.

Agreed, he's definitely achieving more with what most would call less talent out there even though if you look he's beating us this year in recruiting. Plus he has ties to kids in Tex and the Midwest, pair him with tee martin and a few guys with strong ties to the south and you would have a heck of a recruiting staff. Jmo

I am not 100% sold its Gruden, but I also think the way things are happening it all points to Gruden.

Weird how the day after Nooga paper posted article, **** got shot down and coaches were being interviewed all of a sudden. I know a lot of current coaches just ended season, but still come on.

I have been a member of this site for a long time and know "who's,who". I know some of the posters still sold on Gruden would not think so without some kind of legit info. (Lex, OV75, babybol even though he is on TOS).

Let's hope its Gruden, IF it is not let's hope Hart makes a great hire. I would have to say this is one of the biggest hires in Tennessee football history.

The problem is sometimes people just talk too much. This is a process the boosters have setup and now it's time for them to step back and let the AD what they get paid good money today. There are not going to be a lot of leaks any more bc those leaks have been fixed.

I encourage everyone to get behind the AD and believe they will make the right decision. These are the same guys that canned DD after all.

I gotta go and spend sometime with my family, but I'll be back later. The vibe is feeling really good now and I hope it stays this way. Good things come to those thy wait.

Keep the faith guys and try to keep it positive in hear! People come in this forum in hopes of hearing good news and to restore there hope.

Just curious, please don't read too much into it...

If Jimbo Fisher is announced as the HC (not saying he will be) what is your initial concerns and why? Besides the fact you all have a Grude-on for Jon Gruden.

I have stated before that I feel Fisher would be a very poor hire. What has he accomplished at FSU? He has certainly recruited elite talent there - FSU has the best talent in the ACC. Beyond that his coaching has been average at best - he should be dominating the ACC with that talent, yet it has not happened.

In addition, I am not convinced his recruiting will carry over to UT. I certainly could be wrong, but recruiting to LSU under Saban and at one of the big 3 FL schools might exaggerate his recruiting ability. Would he be better than Dooley? Absolutely, but not someone who will win big in the SEC. Honestly, if you cannot win by out-talenting teams in the ACC what do you expect him to do against the big boys in the SEC with equal to greater talent (assuming his elite recruiting does carry over)?
