Do y'all find it strange that all of the "false" candidate interview announcements all flow through the same source (hubbs)? Is being puppeted for the confusion campaign?

hahah

I was a very active member of VQ during the last 2 coaching searches.... both times Hubbs couldn't have been more lost. ESPECIALLY with Dooley.

Sorry guys but it has been 2 days without another denial so, are you guys really convincing yourselves that it is happening again?

This thread has become the most amazing and exciting novel I've ever read. The highs the lows the intrigue. Amazing.... I love the vols and volnation.
In it to win it..........., lets get a Gruboom!!!

You are a UNC fan apparently - first off, Go Pack!

Secondly, what do you think of Fedora to UT?

Update on TCU (Patterson) post: The hubbub in the Athletic Department there IS football related. No other sport is involved. Have no idea what is going on but all the coaches are at the LEAST being called to a meeting.
This could be absolutely nothing, though.

Does this imply he was ever not lost? That is the real news.

He did seem to have a good feel for what was going on with the current team. On the lower * recruits (the ones we care about most :ermm: ) he was on top of things too.

I think generally, he plays it safe to keep that board from hitting the highs and lows we've experienced in this thread.

Unfortunately, I could see this being Arkansas related.

If they wanted this statement to quell the excitement and get the story dropped to keep it quiet they wouldn't retract the statement.

Still seems weird to me that Gruden who presumably has respect for UT would let that be his statement if he wasn't trying to keep it quiet.

If they wanted this statement to quell the excitement and get the story dropped because he isn't coming they wouldn't retract the statement either. Either way the excitement was quelled. Twitter and message boards were going nuts...now hardly a mention of Gruden/Tennessee unless someone is making jokes. I would love for Gruden to come here but right now I don't see it happening. Hope I am wrong.

I have never liked Hubbs....just like Jimmy Hyams, he lost all his sources when Fulmer was axed. He's pretty irrelevant now, which I actually find comical

Patterson would be a sure fire home run.

I like him but don't think he has the spark we need here at ut at this stage. We need either a cling on the edge of your seat recruiter or a x&o guru. Don't think he brings enough to do the job here.
My choices are: grudinski 2 Patterson then everyone else..... Would love strong....as a dc

Recruiting is his strength - no doubt. Not fond of the rest.

Lex - what is your version of events on Thursday? Hart and JG cross swords in some way? I'm still mostly speculating about what might have gotten this thing off the tracks. And here is why I'm baffled...

For those that don't know, I believe there was a meeting just before thanksgiving between the big boys and JG. Everyone left that meeting believing he would be the next HC. Hence the heightened messages of "done deal" many of us probably heard around Thanksgiving. My understanding is the official players would be getting involved to get a deal done. Then some noise started midweek. Then Thursday it's off? I don't get how that could happen. The juice was was squarely behind getting Gruden up to that point.

Pick it up from there...

If that is what occurred then why don't the "big boys" tell Hart to eat some humble pie, and get the deal done or else?

Why carry out a search then? Wasting money and time?

Is there anything concrete that says they are? Just a few pieces of information through the media that says Hart is interviewing this coach or going to interview that coach. Each of those reports seems to have been followed up with other reports from AD's or other reporters that say it is not true. I do not know what is going on with it just like no one else does, including the AD I am afraid.

That is a great question. According to Dave Hart (in his press conference and recently from Hubbs) these guys were going to be rubbing elbows in NY right now. Yet another contradiction.

Last time Gruden turned down the job he said he really liked Tennessee and they watched the games all the time at his house.

Said he hated to see things go the way they did with Kiffin and this is a great school but he just didn't think it was the right thing for him.

This time his agent says we were living in a fantasy world and that's the only statement we get.

That doesn't seem right to me.
