Coaching is certainly different from any other job. Being a head coach requires all your team buying in to what your selling. I fully understand why coaches lie under these circumstances. Broadcasters have no such worries

Not so sure about that. JG isn't some broadcaster. He is one of the most recognizable faces/voices on MNF. It could be considered a recruiting advantage by other schools or the ncaa to have his name in the media everywhere, and then be calling games with every recruit in the nation's eyes glued to the TV ..just sayin..

Because "fantasy world" pisses me off. That term was uncalled for. His client has had negotiations and to belittle this fan base really makes me mad. I will wait cautiously. I really want this to happen.

You have to take into account who said he said that, a junior reporter who has been working at KNS for 3 months... but LaMonte tells all the big news outlets that asked him before and after, "No comment".

How will the Piggies respond to the scientologist?

atheist-scientologist.jpg

Lol... He's Catholic.

All 323? You really think that none of those sources are credible or that Gruden or Hart did not say those things?

If you really believe that then hey, your choice, but not mine. And while we don't agree, your still part of the big orange family.

Again, just where is the quote, video, or something like that where it can be seen coming out of their mouths?

My group, B, is sticking to their guns and I have no reason to doubt. Gruden!

Yeah...new guy. Hi all.

This really doesn't seem that hard...

Group A: JG, Hart, Haslam, possible other $$
Group B: Friends of group A
Group C: OGs with connections to group B

* JG has commitments that preclude announcement before a set date...specifics are irrelevant
* DD screws up timeline
* Rumors abound, but until press breaks story, most are ignored
* JG gets ambushed on M&M, and he ain't happy about it
* JG tells group A to make it stop
* Group A tells group B that deal is soft and to silence it
* Group A leaks info to press that deal is dead
* Group C hears bad news and seeks new info from group B...but they aren't talking any longer
* Group C shares bad news, maintains hope, but is getting no more intel from group B
* Gruden threads self-immolate and JG is free to live life in silence until announcement

Yeah, complete fantasy perhaps, but very plausible.

As if it had to do anything with what Reid wanted?

Gruden made the choice that he wanted to make...the NFL. I wish him the best.

A least you're making it lively in here tonight.

Again ... Why you're even here is puzzling to me. We believe, you don't. I don't have a problem with that. Why not be a lurker like the other people that 'like' your posts and privately snicker at our insanity? Or you can publicly call us idiots.

I don't know how much REAL chance is left that Gruden becomes our coach. You don't either. If you think you do, you're lying to yourself. There's been too much misinformation distributed in this process for anybody to have confidence in the outcome. Fact.

Look, I have no more to gain by downing anyone here for wanting Gruden or hanging on to Gruden than you have for downing me for asking the question or wanting to be on the thread.

I don't judge or condemn anyone here for hope or their dreams....

Personally I don't see Gruden coming to TN because he has said so and our AD has said that they are not pursuing him. Genius right? Takes out all the guess work.

Also, if you treat life by the way some posters treat these message boards by asking people to not comment or post on this thread when they don't agree with you or if they don't agree with what you said /hope for/ dream for, then your gonna find that your world will get really small really fast.
Not quite sure what ur saying but somehow i start thinking about the story of chicken little and wonder why you got 3 likes

Keep the faith folks. Waiting on something this big is beyond exhausting, but with every day that there's only more contradictory press statements and no definitive hire in place - the likelihood of Gruden coming here becomes more and more of a reality.

I think I might tap the brakes a bit. If there is no coach in place this time next week, then your theory just might be right.

I want Gruden too, but I'm a realist, and it ain't looking too great right now.

It' not about my choice to believe..

It's about the fact that there has not been a statement to anybody by Dave Hart or Jon Gruden period.

You can say that his agent said this, or the UT ad told Hubbs that.

You can't say Hart or Gruden has said squat.

I wonder which College has the most superstars in the NFL, I know I see in the present and past alot of UT guys up in that list

LSU currently has the most players active on NFL rosters with 32. Idk where UT is on the list, but it's not very far from the top if I had to guess.

Manning, Foster, Mayo, Hardesty, Berry, Meachem are a few big timers off the top of my head, so there's got to be plenty more.

I read some things about LaMonte the other night, look it up... there was a "super fan" that tried to get a protest going in Cleveland, then once Cleveland management met with him to see what his issue was, they fired management, and then hired Holmgren as president, then the "super fan" disappeared. From that point, LaMonte had a client as president, then if you look, he has many clients hired under Holmgren. Some people believe LaMonte was behind this huge PR scheme with the "super fan", and he has been known to do things similar. Just food for thought.

Still got a full grude-on big Mac this trains not slowing down this time. Negagrudes post anything from hyams tomorrow imahitemindamouth!!!

You know a man can say BS don't stink thousands of times, but it doesn't change a thing when you step in it. Gruden to Tenn.:)

So your basing your hope for Gruden because of what one man did in the past?

Absolutely not. Personally, I thought he was a Buster Douglas type longshot before all of the "denials" from Friday AM. At this point, it's more of a 1980 USA Hockey team longshot.

You said, "Personally I don't see Gruden coming to TN because he has said so..." (emphasis mine). Assuming that he actually said that - which he didn't, his agent did - I was just pointing out that a denial doesn't really mean anything in this day and age.

As I've told my friends, I won't believe anything I read, see, or hear until I see someone at the podium wearing an orange tie. Even then, I'll still be skeptical until I see him on the sideline.

Gotta admit, I used to want Gruden because it would be great for UT football. Now, I am pretty much wanting him for spite. I just want to call in the animal and talk with Hyams and Pennington when he is hired. Want to hear Finebaum and Mark May eat their words as well as all the other national media making fun of Tennessee. So, I am purely motivated by sinful, immature, ugly spite.

I tried not to ignore you....I really did but it's gotta happen.

I just don't understand why people come in to this thread to post negativity over and over and over.

I understand constructive criticism and debating, but blind negativity, I just don't get...
Well if you feel like that's what you need to do the I can't stop you.

Not being negative. In fact, you can go to my posts and see where I wanted Gruden and still would like to see him come to TN.

I'm not blind either...I can read all 323 articles out there and be convinced after reading the first 2 or 3 credible articles that its just not going to happen. This talk of smokescreen and comparing this to Saban is just ridiculous. These are grown men - professionals. They don't need smoke and mirrors. Gruden said no. I don't need to parse what he said 1000 different ways until I get the message I wanted either. Last time I checked no meant no.

Look, I get it. It's hard being a fan right now. No since in making it harder on yourself.
