Absolutely not. Personally, I thought he was a Buster Douglas type longshot before all of the "denials" from Friday AM. At this point, it's more of a 1980 USA Hockey team longshot.

You said, "Personally I don't see Gruden coming to TN because he has said so..." (emphasis mine). Assuming that he actually said that - which he didn't, his agent did - I was just pointing out that a denial doesn't really mean anything in this day and age.

As I've told my friends, I won't believe anything I read, see, or hear until I see someone at the podium wearing an orange tie. Even then, I'll still be skeptical until I see him on the sideline.

I am right there with you.

Hey I'm cool with that. Your choice.

LSU currently has the most players active on NFL rosters with 32. Idk where UT is on the list, but it's not very far from the top if I had to guess.

Manning, Foster, Mayo, Hardesty, Berry, Meachem are a few big timers off the top of my head, so there's got to be plenty more.

I want to say I heard 24-28 somewhere in there.

My post wasn't about urban

You said Gruden has no reason to hide his intentions... why is it Urban did?
"I have not been offered any job nor is there a deal in place," Meyer said in a statement. "I plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family and will not comment on this any further."

Yeah...new guy. Hi all.

This really doesn't seem that hard...

Group A: JG, Hart, Haslam, possible other $$
Group B: Friends of group A
Group C: OGs with connections to group B

* JG has commitments that preclude announcement before a set date...specifics are irrelevant
* DD screws up timeline
* Rumors abound, but until press breaks story, most are ignored
* JG gets ambushed on M&M, and he ain't happy about it
* JG tells group A to make it stop
* Group A tells group B that deal is soft and to silence it
* Group A leaks info to press that deal is dead
* Group C hears bad news and seeks new info from group B...but they aren't talking any longer
* Group C shares bad news, maintains hope, but is getting no more intel from group B
* Gruden threads self-immolate and JG is free to live life in silence until announcement

Yeah, complete fantasy perhaps, but very plausible.

Dooley after being fired is still screwing up football at UT....at least he is determind in his goals...:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

All 323? You really think that none of those sources are credible or that Gruden or Hart did not say those things?

If you really believe that then hey, your choice, but not mine. And while we don't agree, your still part of the big orange family.

I am not going to argue with you about Gruden, because I have my doubts, but all of those articles have exactly the same source, and it isn't Gruden or Hart, or anybody with any authority to speak for those people.

All of those articles are using the original source, which is an anonymous person in the ad who is not authorized to speak for the ad, who told a reporter in Knoxville that Gruden was removed from consideration, but they asked to remain anonymous.

Why do you suppose that is?

Well if you feel like that's what you need to do the I can't stop you.

Not being negative. In fact, you can go to my posts and see where I wanted Gruden and still would like to see him come to TN.

I'm not blind either...I can read all 323 articles out there and be convinced after reading the first 2 or 3 credible articles that its just not going to happen. This talk of smokescreen and comparing this to Saban is just ridiculous. These are grown men - professionals. They don't need smoke and mirrors. Gruden said no. I don't need to parse what he said 1000 different ways until I get the message I wanted either. Last time I checked no meant no.

Look, I get it. It's hard being a fan right now. No since in making it harder on yourself.

I think the point is you cannot provide 1 quote from Gruden that he said no. All hearsay.

Because "fantasy world" pisses me off. That term was uncalled for. His client has had negotiations and to belittle this fan base really makes me mad. I will wait cautiously. I really want this to happen.

Yeah, the whole attitude of the "fantasy world" comment pissed me off at first. But, the more I steamed about it and the more angry I got, something really hit home. Why, if Gruden had such an affinity for East Tennessee, would he allow such a comment to be made by his representative? Combine that with the family ties to the university and Knoxville area, makes for awkwardness at home you would think.

My gut feeling, and I almost hate to use the word, is smokescreen. If it were not, I would honestly think that Gruden would make a point, either personally of via his agent, to clarify the comment made earlier. If for no other reason than to save face.

Still believing in Gruden.

GBO!!!!

Look, I get it. It's hard being a fan right now. No since in making it harder on yourself.

Please take a look at the VQ post that Ron Swanson pasted in this thread earlier tonight for a very eloquent explanation of why we're holding out hope for the big hire.

Tennessee as of now can not get enough 5 star recruits let alone
4 star to compete with bama and.lsu. It has been this way since fulmer. If tennessee does not hire gruden they are doomed, literally. Haslams and boosters have to know this.

I read some things about LaMonte the other night, look it up... there was a "super fan" that tried to get a protest going in Cleveland, then once Cleveland management met with him to see what his issue was, they fired management, and then hired Holmgren as president, then the "super fan" disappeared. From that point, LaMonte had a client as president, then if you look, he has many clients hired under Holmgren. Some people believe LaMonte was behind this huge PR scheme with the "super fan", and he has been known to do things similar. Just food for thought.

So which Lamonte client has the most to gain if we get rid of Hart? I can't stay away from this thread.....you just get sucked back in.

I want to say I heard 24-28 somewhere in there.

My guess would be that is accurate.

Fulmer was good at bringing in guys and getting them into the NFL. Where he fell off was when those players wouldnt develop under him, get drafted low then go be big names. Fulmer has Foster and Hardesty in the safe backfield and UT had a below average running game. IMO, those types of situations are why he had to go. Unfortunately, we took one step forward and 3 steps back.

They just showed Jeff Lurie (sp) at the Cowboys/Eagles game. Was that Gruden talking to Lurie?

Anyone watch Channel 10 there in Knoxville? A poster in the Gundy thread said that their reporter on the evening news said that Hart/AD confirmed that they have interviewed Strong and Gundy.

Anyone see that?

Wasn't it odd that the espn story I seen breaking that was Gruden says no to Tenn and they bring Chris Low on to tell he heard from his source. Why not just go straight to Tampa and ask Jon himself I'm sure they had his cell number too.
