I will say this...... If there is no hire this week, I will go full Grutard again.

Dont give up vol brother..hang in there..we dont know timeline obviously Jon needs more time not to decide whether to come or not but things associated with contract of mnf or tb? Trust ur feelings about the farce of a coaching search and how things dont add up...maybe hart will find ways to give vn a bone to get us thru the next couple of weeks..maybe jon will wear something Orange on tv or something pay attention to the subtle signs....

Gruden has a job with Espn so whats the difference. He could have just said I am committed to Miami and I am trying to win games.

Coaching is certainly different from any other job. Being a head coach requires all your team buying in to what your selling. I fully understand why coaches lie under these circumstances. Broadcasters have no such worries

Yeah...new guy. Hi all.

This really doesn't seem that hard...

Group A: JG, Hart, Haslam, possible other $$
Group B: Friends of group A
Group C: OGs with connections to group B

* JG has commitments that preclude announcement before a set date...specifics are irrelevant
* DD screws up timeline
* Rumors abound, but until press breaks story, most are ignored
* JG gets ambushed on M&M, and he ain't happy about it
* JG tells group A to make it stop
* Group A tells group B that deal is soft and to silence it
* Group A leaks info to press that deal is dead
* Group C hears bad news and seeks new info from group B...but they aren't talking any longer
* Group C shares bad news, maintains hope, but is getting no more intel from group B
* Gruden threads self-immolate and JG is free to live life in silence until announcement

Yeah, complete fantasy perhaps, but very plausible.

I like the logic. Could be possible...

Nick Saban, 12/21/2006: "I guess I have to say it. I'm not going to be the Alabama coach. I don't control what people say. I don't control what people put on dot-com or anything else. So I'm just telling you there's no significance, in my opinion, about this, about me, about any interest that I have in anything other than being the coach [of the Miami Dolphins]."

Nick Saban, 1/4/2007 (fourteen days later): "I can't tell you how pleased and honored I am to be your coach at the University of Alabama."

So your basing your hope for Gruden because of what one man did in the past?

Yep and they ended up with a top 10 class, but this isn't Alabama. We're no where near what the talent level at Alabama was when Saban came in. I guess it's not impossible, but they would be taking a really big risk only have 1 month to recruit. This upcoming class has to be solid or our on campus talent is going to be a critically low level.

No way. Not as low when Dooley started. It was bad then. He would be fine if hired in early January. We would keep most of our committed guys and still get several more big time recruits.

How's it going , OV?

I think he may be looking for the quote from Gruden or Hart directly.

Honestly I just hope they hire gruden before December 21, so I can have at least one happy memory of Tennessee football from the last 5 years when the so called "Myan Doomsday" happens and the world ends.

Why not just drop off the ledge now. Why wait?

Because "fantasy world" pisses me off. That term was uncalled for. His client has had negotiations and to belittle this fan base really makes me mad. I will wait cautiously. I really want this to happen.

I tried not to ignore you....I really did but it's gotta happen.

I just don't understand why people come in to this thread to post negativity over and over and over.

I understand constructive criticism and debating, but blind negativity, I just don't get...

Keep the faith folks. Waiting on something this big is beyond exhausting, but with every day that there's only more contradictory press statements and no definitive hire in place - the likelihood of Gruden coming here becomes more and more of a reality.

I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell that Arkansas offered Franklin 5 mil a year. There is no way anybody can ever make me believe that. That is more than anybody outside of Saban and Mack Brown.

If it was true, and it's not, but if it were, then people in Arkansas are even more stupid than I could have imagined. And that is saying something coming from me.

Talk to Clay Travis then. I didn't report it. He's the journalist / reporter who put his sack out there. I simply cut and pasted it.

You really don't remember a guy named Urban Meyer do you?

Check the sources on those articles...

None of them are Gruden or Mike Hart.

All 323? You really think that none of those sources are credible or that Gruden or Hart did not say those things?

If you really believe that then hey, your choice, but not mine. And while we don't agree, your still part of the big orange family.

I wonder which College has the most superstars in the NFL, I know I see in the present and past alot of UT guys up in that list
