I will say this...... If there is no hire this week, I will go full Grutard again.
Gruden has a job with Espn so whats the difference. He could have just said I am committed to Miami and I am trying to win games.
Yeah...new guy. Hi all.
This really doesn't seem that hard...
Group A: JG, Hart, Haslam, possible other $$
Group B: Friends of group A
Group C: OGs with connections to group B
* JG has commitments that preclude announcement before a set date...specifics are irrelevant
* DD screws up timeline
* Rumors abound, but until press breaks story, most are ignored
* JG gets ambushed on M&M, and he ain't happy about it
* JG tells group A to make it stop
* Group A tells group B that deal is soft and to silence it
* Group A leaks info to press that deal is dead
* Group C hears bad news and seeks new info from group B...but they aren't talking any longer
* Group C shares bad news, maintains hope, but is getting no more intel from group B
* Gruden threads self-immolate and JG is free to live life in silence until announcement
Yeah, complete fantasy perhaps, but very plausible.
Nick Saban, 12/21/2006: "I guess I have to say it. I'm not going to be the Alabama coach. I don't control what people say. I don't control what people put on dot-com or anything else. So I'm just telling you there's no significance, in my opinion, about this, about me, about any interest that I have in anything other than being the coach [of the Miami Dolphins]."
Nick Saban, 1/4/2007 (fourteen days later): "I can't tell you how pleased and honored I am to be your coach at the University of Alabama."
Yep and they ended up with a top 10 class, but this isn't Alabama. We're no where near what the talent level at Alabama was when Saban came in. I guess it's not impossible, but they would be taking a really big risk only have 1 month to recruit. This upcoming class has to be solid or our on campus talent is going to be a critically low level.

So your basing your hope for Gruden because of what one man did in the past?
I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell that Arkansas offered Franklin 5 mil a year. There is no way anybody can ever make me believe that. That is more than anybody outside of Saban and Mack Brown.
If it was true, and it's not, but if it were, then people in Arkansas are even more stupid than I could have imagined. And that is saying something coming from me.

Check the sources on those articles...
None of them are Gruden or Mike Hart.
