Yeah, but you are an insider of sorts. You are closer than most of us are to the program and you hear things most of us don't hear.

While I disagree with your current thoughts on Gruden, I appreciate the guarded/rational way you brought your information to the Gruden threads. Thanks.

Not sure I'm following. Are you saying that Foley didn't hire Strong because he only had 1 year of HC experience, but did hire Muschamp without any? Sorry, but I don't follow the logic.

I say if we are going to gamble on a coach then gamble on the one with the biggest upside.

Having said that I don't get the Gundy love.

You are missing the point anyways. Foley had many years to personally observe Strong and yet never even gave him a sniff of the HC position.....twice.

Why is that?

The sources likely were legit!
Gruden could have changed his mind during negotiations. Info he had may have been accurate at the time of release but circumstances changed.
We just have to have faith that the right man for the job will be secured.

I'm not buying this rewrite of history going on now. I believe there was plenty of evidence that Gruden wanted to be here. He talked to several coaches and this was widely reported. He wasn't talking to these guys that were on NFL staffs in the middle of the season about going to other NFL teams. It was UT guys. I get the pyschology of it though...."well, he didn't really want to be here anyway" is easier to take than we were so close.

I've been reading these boards a long time, but have only recently starting posting a little. I don't know anyone on here, at least I don't think. From someone that knows the innerworkings of Knoxville politics and money to a decent extent, I think Carter sounds as legitimate as anyone on this board and is as plugged in as anyone.

Through marriage, I've had some run ins with some big money folks. I also work in government here. The only thing I will say about this is that the traits these people value the most is loyalty and secrecy. They despise gossip. They don't talk except to the folks in their inner circles. With that being said, it is almost guaranteed that anyone posting this info as an insider on this board coming from boosters is getting it from at least 2nd and probably 3rd hand sources. The folks that would really be working this deal would never post here and wouldn't give their info to anyone that would - I am nearly 100% certain in this.

Sorry to quote myself, but the reason I am asking this is bc the play on words.

Its just very vague when he says "the media wasn't the only ones being smokescreens"...

One could go in many different directions with this statement. I'm not trying to call him out, but this is what I do for a living and when someone starts to realize they are about to get caught in a lie they start scrambling and try to find ways to play with wording to get that person or people to believe them.

i.e. If he's wrong about this whole thing, he can always fall back on, "guys don't you remember where I said the "media" wasn't going to be the only smokescreen? I was saying these things to get your attention off such and such (whoevers hired).

I don't know this guy, but you all seem to feel like he is credible so I'll trust you all. Just wanted to point out something that were red flags to me.

ps. Remember this guy is banning himself if he is wrong, he may be trying to find ways to where he can convince people it was all part of the plan so people won't let him ban himself.

You've always been on the E-cred search, IMO. I've been reading this board for years and years. You pop in, rattle of some "in the know" garbage with nothing to back it. I understand that. It's simple. The less you say, the smaller the chance someone can call you out because of lack of specifics.

He took over for les miles and has done better. This is the best OSU has EVER been... And its with his players
