I'm not convinced Gruden is coming, but I'm also not convinced he's not. I will believe he is not coming when the new HC is announced and his name isn't Gruden. Coaches, agents, and administrators use the media in all kinds of ways and often times outright lie (see Nick Saban). It seems like UT and LaMonte are playing games with each other through the media...one side says the other wants too much whatever, the other side says UT didn't make an effort. Seems like a game.

That's BS! I don't care what color a person's skin is, who they are married to or what their affiliation is. And, I spent over 20 years defending the people of this country's right to choose for themselves.

I would be running up and down the streets shouting for joy if Shaw was hired. I believe that he is a super star just beginning his ascent and would love for him to be at TN.

I don't have the faith that Strong can get it done at UT...period. Nothing about how he talks, walks, looks. Just his coaching and his history to base it off of.

Before you start calling people out, I suggest you find out their background and maybe try to hold a discussion without resorting to the basest of tactics to try to discredit them.

I definitely think the thread will blow up with negagrudes if/when a hire who is not Gruden is announced.

They will want to feel all big and self important...

Everybody here wants Gruden.

What everybody has a problem with is that you add nothing of substance and then you get combative.

You just say things like "trust me", or "I know".

That sort of thing doesn't endear people to you. Don't take it personally though.

I agree that it would just be too hard to have all the media knowingly participate as being a smokescreen and no one leak any info. But I do find some believability in that the media is being fed false info and the AD and Boosters are using them as a smokescreen (without the media knowing it). JMO

Exactly. I could get excited about Shaw. I really love the way his team plays. I have said before, they remind me of UT circa 1990s. Smash you in the face football.

Malzahn had 17th ranked offense in his first year at Arky St. I'm pretty sure he only had 10 returning starters. His offenses were impressive at Auburn. He had the #1 offense at Tulsa. Aside from one rough year, he has been pretty solid.

In my mind he could be the next big offensive mind in the SEC (if Sumlin hasn't already claimed that title). When he was at Tulsa, I shot him an email asking a question about one of his offensive schemes, he actually sent me a nice response within a couple of days. I hope he at least gets an interview. My much more exciting than Strong in my opinion.

I agree with that too... what is being reported in the media can't be true because there are so many conflicting reports all around.

One thing is for sure... no one really knows 100% what is going to happen... and as far as Gruden is concerned, other than his agent which might have just said what he did to throw everyone off and quiet everyone down for awhile, he hasn't said anything specifically about turning something down nor has UT said anything about Gruden not being a target so I still there is a possibility here.... how good of one remains to be seen.

Then it makes no sense why this didn't happen. Unless there was some last-minute snag with ESPN contract. Notice that when asked on Mike and Mike and the agent comments, both mentioned ESPN and being committed.

The only thing I will say about this is that the traits these people value the most is loyalty and secrecy. They despise gossip. They don't talk except to the folks in their inner circles. With that being said, it is almost guaranteed that anyone posting this info as an insider on this board coming from boosters is getting it from at least 2nd and probably 3rd hand sources. The folks that would really be working this deal would never post here and wouldn't give their info to anyone that would - I am nearly 100% certain in this.

And if those people with sources wanted to throw a bone to keep spirits up. They would only try to "keep the faith" and hint for brighter days, rather than drop a boom that could spoil a deal or up the ante on the negotiation.
