What was he trying to say by that?

There are some that think that Haslam was never on board with Gruden, or to be more precise, he has always supported Hart's decisions.

The though is that when Hart thought things were not moving in a positive direction and he decided to back off, Haslam supported that decision.

Something along the lines of Gruden wanted too much and UT said here is what we got and left it in Gruden's hands.

I didn't hear the broadcast, was he reporting that we said take it or leave it, and Gruden hasn't let is know yet? Or we said take it or leave it and he said screw it? Sorry for all the questions.. Just curious about people's thoughts.

But aren't Gruden/Haslam big golfing buddies, or did I just dream I heard that.

Just like everything else this is all just people talking. No one knows what happened or what will happen. We have just got to ride this thing out like a good horse race and pull for our favorite. I personally have Gruden in gate #4.

As far as potential DCs go, thoughts on the following?:

Pat Nanduzzi - Mich St
Chris Ash - Wisconsin
Dick Bumpass - TCU
Bud Foster - Virginia Tech (Doubt he would leave VT for anything but a HC job)

Just been looking at the post here for awhile usually don't say anything in the forums. Just wanted to say I still think Gruden is coming. VFL. I know some folks inside at UT but they don't have a clue. They say wait and see. So that's what I am doing. 1st post on Vol-Nation. Go Vols

Welcome. Post often.

Doesn't matter. This is business.

Haslam could not give the appearance of being involved even if he is. Any falling out with UT is confined to Dave Hart. Period.

You won't see Peyton giving Gruden the silent treatment over this. Nor should he.

Welcome to the board vfl. Buckle your seatbelt and keep you arms and legs in at all times!

Somebody please explain to me how the AD is going to pay buyouts and pay a new coaching staff on 6 million per year?

maybe bcarter is part of the calculated misdirection that babyvol alluded to?

That's what I'm thinking. A lot of the posters with sources have stopped posting particular after everyone said it was a done deal.

This scenario looks very familiar if you ask me.

I got the impression Tony was saying that UT said take it or leave it and the "biggest of the big" had Hart's back on that decision.

At the time Muschamp was more sought after. I think I know the real reason why you guys don't want Strong.

I don't want him... I do not know why you think I don't but let me tell you why

1. I think he is a good coach but I think good is middle of the pack in SEC...I want to be the best

2. I am not sold that he can recruit against the Miles, Sabans, Spurriers and Rietch(sp) of the SEC...which he will need to do

3. he is a solid coach yes...but we have talked about (you as well) a BIG NAME coach from way back in October... I want UT to live up to the hype

Yes. Exactly. If you could build a big graph of all of the rumors and reports, the truth would probably be close to the plot line running right through the middle of it all.

I will say this, this thread has been the most entertaining online experience in a long long time for me that didnt involve shipping a poker tournament lol.
