Why the hell does this have to be our program. There is at least 50 other major programs in the country. Why does ours have to be the most stupid, crooked, incompetent, of all major university athletic departments. Everyone else fires their guy, hires their guy, wins. Us..... nah not us.
Dude we are trying to salvage the program in general.
Gruden may not step on campus for ten years for sh..s and giggles. Much less coach. I was all in. But this is a whole new narrative.
I'm hoping that this will be a series on HBO in a couple of years.
Hell, I'll take Netflix.
Sad part, after this debacle, UT will be hard pressed to get a coach to knoxville.
What a cluster-***cck
Preface to my opinion:
I love a good conspiracy and I know this is not the movies BUT
What if the deal with Gruden never included Currie? All the info we are getting seems to be from booster side. It was stated at some point Currie didn't want Gruden. If Currie truly was hired behind the back of so many at he hand of Haslam, this could have been Haslam's plan all alonglay along with everyone then get your man (Currie) to torpedo deal at last minute. If other boosters (Ergen) are tired of Haslam's influence and power mongering, maybe this was set up to get Currie ousted (enter Beaver and expectations of VN) and get Fulmer or even Blackburn hired (strange that Blackburn left UTC with no real explanation). Maybe all this is part of the grand scheme.
Cliff notes:
Other boosters saw Haslam's play to hire his coach and countered to get Currie fired bc he was the pawn.
AD VN wanted put in place and secret deal with Gruden takes effect.
No secret I wanted David as AD But I wanted to give John the benefit of the doubt. I thought John's personality might be able to effect what we needed. After today he and Davenport must be fired or resign. I am begging you all to turn the passion brought to bare against this hire to removing them. I have been talking for the last few hours to other boosters, former players, and friends in the AD and the outrage is universal. what has transpired today is inexcusable and we can't let up. They are unfit for the jobs they have and unfit for Tennessee. What happened today no matter how bad it looks or hurts it is a win for the good guys. I have never been more proud to be a Volunteer.
