Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

Word that I heard, is that there is an unexpected BOT meeting (conference call) at 10 or 11 am (no sure depending on time zone, I was unclear). Not sure the nature of call, but I can only assume its about one topic.

Can we delete this entire thread and never speak the name "Gruden" in this state again? He was never coming here and he never will. He also did Tennessee no favors by letting rumors run rampant (though I expect he merely did so to provide leverage against ESPN... can't blame a man for that).

Why don't you just delete your post instead and avoid this thread as it bothers you so .... if you are more offended than I suggest you might just go ahead and delete your account

TIA

Nah man, I am done with supporting this University. It's my alma mater and it breaks my heart, but I cant support this clown show any longer. I feel like the wife of an abuser who has been kicking my ass for 20 years and I have finally found the courage to leave them.

Wait to see what happens. A lot of people know this, but I have ties to USC, the real one. So you can support two teams just UT always came first.

I'm right there with you.
My bags are packed, I've called momma, and she said I could stay there.

Can we please keep this thread going, if anything to stay united and to bring information to the board in a consolidated place?

I don’t want to go out into the other VN threads. It’s toxic

Firing Currie and barring Haslam from campus, hopefully.

Explain to me why this piece of sh!t currie is still at ut. Geez this is horrendus

Because Haslams, the same reason he is even here to begin with. Haslams run this show and Currie did what he was told to do. It will take a conglomerate of individuals getting together to get him out and hopefully that is being pursued this morning.

I think it does. The ever present word had PM having ALL boosters on the same page for JG. If he was now pulling for schiano my questions revolve around what changed to change his mind or did haslam backdoor everyone (like many believe). Furthermore, if he hates schiano so much I’d assume Hyams was lied to and PM might roshambo whoever said it.

So, that relates to Payton and his support for a coaching candidate.

If he switched his support (can that be verified?) from gruden to Schiano, he must have known that gruden was no longer a candidate and that Schiano was the next best available option.

One thing I've understood about this community from the day I found you is that it is bigger than Jon Gruden.

Blasphemy, I know. :)

But really, saying "Gruden to the Hill" is a shorthand way of communicating a lot of complicated thoughts, all at once.
  • It means that we'd like Jon Gruden as Tennessee's next coach, absolutely.
  • It also means we expect a hire to be made of that quality. A Patterson...a Peterson...that tier. All but the most fanatic among this crowd understand that landing Gruden would be a massive challenge, akin to hunting down the white whale of legend. Nonetheless, we hold to high standards for the future coach; Jon Gruden is, in this sense, merely an icon of those standards.
  • It also means family. Quite literally: we expect a coach who has ties to the community (Jon through his earliest coaching years, and his wife and her family), one who truly bleeds orange, who would rather be in no other college town serving no other state.
  • And it means a return to excellence. It is not unrealistic to believe that Tennessee can again be what it was in the Neyland and Fulmer years; "Gruden" is shorthand for that belief.
So yeah, OJG XLIII is about Jon Gruden, as were all the OJG's before. But it is also about a lot more than just Jon Gruden the man.

Go Vols!

Either we have just witnessed the biggest sh** show in the history of sh** shows, or Gruden announces on MNF tonite, ESPN will get paid enough to pay the next year's electric bills, Gruden will be a hero, we'll be happy and social media research data will be rich for mining for the next 20 years, or, we're fu***d

Who is Payton?

Knuck, what can we expect to take place today? Will Currie be fired? Will the power shift be fulfilled in our favor?

We are a complete mess. I know folks were up late last night. Currie supposedly will be fired. That's all I know and care to at this point. It will either sort itself out or we are ****ed.

Stop with this crap. The guys who bring stuff here DO know people and they pass that info. along. We know enough about these people to know that they live normal lives and don't have to get their jollies on getting likes on a message board.

Currie lied to a lot of people it sounds like.

Some of those you're backing have knowingly lied and been caught. I've watched it happen. I've also watched those who dare question anything, even some who have brought great info to vn in the past, get told to gtfo and STFU by the congregation. If it's not for the likes then what is it for?
