8 million for Gundy all because Jimmy Haslam and his lap dog John Currie tried the ole dirty sanchez on the other big money boosters and Vol fans. Good grief.

We could have gotten Gundy for prob 5.5 million a week ago. Hell we could have Tee for probably 3.5 million which would leave a boat load for his staff. This is what allowing Jimmy Haslam run our athletic department - and we saw today in court what Jimmy Haslam is about!

He is a fraud.. really..

It was leaked (supposedly) from the ADs office first, maybe while Currie was in the air.

I don't believe PM was talking to Gundy while knowing Schiano was being signed.

Ainge specifically said yesterday he had talked to PM and PF and both said they knew nothing about it.

Later other VFLs say PM txted them asking for support.

It is a known fact PM is not a fan of Schiano for the cheap shot he let happen to Eli while at Tampa Bay(and I have heard too that Schiano did the same to PM during a game, but not sure of this)

Hell, I believed Gruden was coming and bringing Lane Kiffin as OC, Rex Ryan as DC and Jimmy Johnson as GM over operations.

Might as well not believe that about Peyton.

A very powerful person in Tennessee sent out a tweet Sunday night supporting Vol fans. Within hours this person got a call from Jimmy Haslam and was TOLD not asked to delete tweet. Can't tell the whole conversation but he was politely told to go to hell. I can say with 100 % confidence by what Haslam said during phone call , he was behind the hire.

Haslam's involvement has been established. This is not earth shattering.

This.ismt about what the coach is worth. It's about pacifying the average fan until this can blow over.

Most could care less if Haslam stays or goes.

The Haslams have more at stake here than hiring a good football coach.

They are tied into every facet of the university.

If you think they don't make millions off the school or through contacts that network through the school then I don't know what to tell you.

The 8.4m for Gundy is nothing compared to the other are at stake if the Haslams get ousted.

If it was it about the hiring of a coach and and what say they have in that do you really think they would fight as hard as they do to keep their people in place?

Jimmy Haslam should NOT have the final say in who the next head football coach is going to be.

Yes. I am in agreement with you. If Peyton needed support to hire s chiano and was calling vfls then he would call Ainge. He didn't. Which makes this story bs.

My thoughts are that Tee may bring Kevin Steel and perhaps D Jones and others with a Tennessee connection and a solid coaching ability to help.

Tee can recruit for sure

Bring Tee back, if HE wants it. Start him at 3- 3.5 mil and give him 5.5-6 mil to hire a staff. GBO

One thing that has been clearly established. Despite much (and wow do I mean much) recent experience with coaching searches, the UT administration always becomes a national punchline when it runs one. We can claim that the media "hates us" all we want, but the derision is largely justified.

It really is mind boggling the level of ineptitude. I fully expect Gundy to tell us to move along tomorrow, and we will move down another tier in the search.
