I strongly disagree. When have we had anyone the caliber of:
Ingram
Lacy
Richardson
Yeldon
Tebow
Johnny Football

Our backs are downright puny and have been for years. Arian Foster might have been our best back recently and I guess he slept through his UT years.

Coaching, yes it plays a part (How many offsides penalties did we have on 3rd and 2 - and you don't see Alabama doing that). However recruiting is HUGE. Withough the horses, you'll see linebackers that get one step on them and can't ever catch up.

You have to recruit. Period. I think Dooley could have won at least 5 SEC games with the team that Bama has on the field now, and maybe even won the west.

Agreed. Care to show me a winner who isn't a big recruiter?
Of course, one can recruit big and NOT win big, but this does not work in reverse. Every "winner" can think of is a bang-up recruiter:
All winners, all recruiters: Les Miles, Nick Saban, Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, Mark Richt, Steve Spurrier.... etc.
