I thought the AD at Louisville said back in October that he would pay whatever was needed to keep Charlie.... Should we start a donation bin for that as well? Lol

Are there still any Gruden believers out there?

Gruden is first on my wish list. I haven't been anywhere close to saying he was going to hired since last Friday morning. If he is hired then I will be dead wrong.

Respectful post bro!! Just hard to see thru the smog but just like saban denied bummer looks to be the same situation here.

Raiders GM is a VFL. This looks like more smoke possibly due to the media focus on our search as the last open job in the SEC. They're playing off Gruden's return to the Black Hole for MNF earlier this season.

Not to mention NFL tampering due to talking to current assistants as the future Vols HC if he tries to go back pro. Oh, don't forget the 'exclusive' ESPN contract that is supposed to keep him out of the NFL until 2016 due to the access he's given to teams for MNF.

David Shaw at Stanford makes 1.5 mil a year. Chip Kelly makes 2.8.
NO! It's a terrible deal!!!!! I don't care if he's good or not, he hasn't done anything to deserve $$ like that! If we're shelling out that kind of cash for coaches, why haven't we offered Shaw that money?? He's a fantastic coach! My goodness, If that's really the $$ we're looking at, we need to rethink what this search is even about.

Why don't people understand this???? Whether you like Strong or not.

Is Strong the best hire out there that will come to UT? You can make that argument. But offering him that kind of $$ would be almost as dumb as if Hart gave Dooley a raise on his buyout. WTH?

Whew ok..I believe Larry Fedora is meeting with Tennessee and Charlie Strong will announce Wed he is staying with Louisville....

Jason Higdon ‏@Jason_Higdon
yes, I understand what everyone including ESPN is reporting. I guess I am standing alone on this one folks. lonely on this ledge

I've noticed that the first few posts on every page come in in a mad rush...like people have ctrl +V on stand-by ready to get that top post.

@Jason_Higdon
There will be a team meeting tomorrow with Louisville but do not expect announcement either way as it stands right now

http://www.dawgtalkers.net/uploads/2009 NFL Anti-Tampering Policy.pdf

NFL Anti-Tampering Policy:

Under Contract. During a club’s playing season, including postseason if
applicable (excluding Pro Bowl), the following actions are prohibited
concerning a head coach who is under contract, unless the involved head
coach has been dismissed by his club: (1) No head coach may discuss or
accept employment for the current or a future season with another club in the
League; (2) no club may request permission to discuss employment with a
head coach for the current or a future season; and
....

Now Gruden may not technically count as a head-coach since he's not currently employed as a coach, but even still, this walks a fine, fine line from violating the anti-tampering policy. I see no validity in these NFL rumors until their season officially ends. It's just always worked that way.

If you read further you will see that the rules apply to terminated coaches as well. And you cannot talk to other coaches for prospective jobs during the season - huge no - no.

I have been saying this for days and posted the rules and provided a link. Some read - most ignored, like paladin.

I thought the AD at Louisville said back in October that he would pay whatever was needed to keep Charlie.... Should we start a donation bin for that as well? Lol

He did say that, and on TSR today... I believe on TB's show, it was mentioned that he didn't even interview Strong. AD literally went to Charlie and said, you're my guy, let's do this. No interview, nothing.

just looked it up...he's sports director at Fox 31 News in Denver. Just moved out there within last year or so from KC. We great up together, played ball together, in southern, IN. I'm originally from east TN though...all my family is there.

He may know a friend of mine who is a news cameraman in KC. I'm an adventure sports film producer in my other life...FYI

I think 3.7mil is high enough to go unless you know Kirby smart is the only name left standing. Worth isn't easily defined unless you look at specific need and what else can fill that need.

I agree, but one thing that really irks me about this is that it is not apparent to me that Hart has made any effort to move outside his comfort zone to find a coach.

There are exciting coaches out there besides Strong and Smart. Those aren't the only guys.

I think it is criminal that we haven't offered Shaw. He is a long shot, but before today, Bielema was never going to leave Wisconsin. For 4 mil, he may have taken a shot at the SEC.
