I'm off for the evening. Grudenites, I salute you. I hope this wasn't our last stand before getting slaughtered. Until tomorrow...

You make a valid point. I should have not said that in regards to switching allegiences. They don't care about me that's true, and since they are 1000 miles away, there is little chance of me supporting them either. They beat Bama this year, which is is something I don't see us doing anytime soon without a BIG hire.....and I don't just mean Gruden.

Strong is small time thinking, which seems to be the mold we are stuck in, and I'm tired of it. I still don't believe it, but if it happens to come to fruition I believe it signals a continuation of mediocrity. Nobody here can seriously say Charlie Strong is the type of coach to go head to head with Nick Saban and have us on equal footing with Bama.

I unreservedly apologize for what I said, it was bush league. I love the Vols, but despise our leadership right now from top to bottom. I'm not alone in this.....many active letterman of various sports agree. It's a mess.

I've backtracked and apologized now, so all of you gloating trolls feel free to flame away. I'm mispoke, and am broad enough between the shoulders to take my lumps.

When this thing breaks the other way on you, be man enough to take what gets dished back out.

This isn't over yet.

Okay, I appreciate this and understand it is what I thought it might be........frustration. We are all Vol fans and will support them. Anyone who comes on here and bashes people for info they bring may not be true Vol fans or brothers either.

Contrary to most of the trolls and freaks on here pushing Strong, I believe that we still have Gruden. The OGs said it would be this way and the media hasn't gotten it right yet. We were seemingly this close with Gruden before the "deal fell through", so anything can happen. I am not convinced that Strong is anywhere close to the Tennessee job, especially with what Higdon and CBS affiliate in Louisville have just said. So lets keep up the hope for Gruden, nothing is done with Strong, so all you freaks GTFO and go to your own f'ing thread and worship Strong there. All I see is another mediocre coach ready to lose to umpteen more ranked teams. You all sound like Dooley supporters... Rationalizing and settling for something less than satisfactory. Until it's all done, lets push for the best and hope he comes!

Go Vols!!!

damn like wont work no more

Ha! I just got on here, and there are folks here who actually think that we have anncd Charlie Strong!

Guys, if it's not obvious who it is..then I can't help you.
Geez... Relax.

I posted this several times during the Troy Air raid from 3-7 today. Either Boomer is locked in to a very close source or his guess was very lucky. I prefer to believe the former.

I have to think that would have been one helluva coincidence if he was guessing. All this leads me to believe even more that Gruden will be our next HC.

GROOOOOOOOOOOODEN!

soon

Absolutely not. This is a HOF moment for a former player, coach at Tennessee. He gets his day/time....along with accolades for our program.

I wasn't commenting on what he said, just his string of posts.....reminds me of someone....

If Dave Hart hires Charlie Strong at any amount of money, then that tells me Moore is retiring in a couple of months and Hart will be Bama's AD.

No -- as of last Thursday. Like I posted at the time. But I have never claimed to have all the info. Just going by what I knew.

But again, I did start hearing from the AD end some pretty excited hombres about them having their guy and getting ready for a presser this week. Kind of like what the OGs were in the other way. It's almost like the baton switched hands last week. Until then those guys didn't seems to understand anything they were seeing.

Thanks for your input, Liper.

And now a new twist! I like you Liper, and what you bring, keep coming my man, but I am keeping you at arms length!!:)

Sorry to confuse. Never my intention. My "Gruden sources" have produced nothing materially new other than some I talk to about it are just as confused. Isn't surprising not to get new info considering where they are situated. I never got daily updates. Didn't work that way...at all.

We have a lot of conjecture out there about strong with nothing concrete except for this. This is an official football function that is now choosing not to have their players in the public eye tomorrow. I would love to hear other thoughts but I can't think of any except the university knows tomorrow isn't a day to have their kids making public appearances.

No -- two totally different places. Original sources were booster end mostly, but also corroborated by NFL side. Never got much. Just the broad strokes at key points. Obvious the whole time AD's office was in the dark.

This weekend, after I was basically just sitting there, got some wind from business contacts connected to AD about the possible new guy and presser. Didn't care much but it was clear they had some heightened sense of urgency. Taking it all in you know?

Understood. Thank you, sir!

This...........we all get frustrated and thoughts of screw it come across our minds. Mine too. But, the posters giving anyone heck regardless of which way they believe on this are small people and it is stupid. Not true good Vol fans in my book. I am not Denzel! :)

I am sure we can get this information... I am just not sure when.... I don't believe most of what I read about it.

I don't believe Gruden did not want to be here, I don't believe it was about power, and I don't believe it was about money.

That leaves me to believe as Tony B (of all people said) that Gruden was never Harts choice. That being the case he stalled until he found a way to piss him off.

I personally think (can't prove) it was Hart

Totally agree Coasty. I think all the OG's were correct, but the only thing they can't account for is Hart. About the same time Basilio spoke of hart's arrogance and rebuking strong arm boosters. Plus go back to when boosters first wanted CDD fired, Hart refused and tried to keep him for another year. Hart was dead silent on everything until the TFP article appeared last week and he goes off on the AD dept. I think the story had too much truth. Last I think that him running off Gruden was his rebuke of fans and boosters both, and I hope he loses his job and soon.

Here's a theory....

What if it was set up to all fall apart....and then since both Gruden and Hart planned on be NYC....it goes something like this:

"I was set and determined on going back to the NFL. Tennessee had approached me, but I just didn't think that the college game was for me. But as I sat and watched Coach Fulmer's induction to the Hall of Fame, and saw the tradition and glory that is Tennessee football, and I thought about the rivalries, the stadium, the orange, the fans, Rocky Top, the start of my coaching days, my wife cheering on the sidelines, my mentor barking out plays, the start of everything I am being there, I couldn't help but realize I could be part of the solution to bring that back again, and introduce my kids to the Tennessee that their dad knew. So Dave and I rediscussed the job, and I told him that I couldn't sleep peacefully tonight, unless I knew that I was the next Head Coach of the University of Tennessee."

Anybody see that?
