This is looking like a masterful PR job. How do you justify breaking the bank and blowing away anything that has been paid for an NCAA coaching staff to date? You didn't have any other options. Brilliant!

All kinds of smoke in here again today. Been a rather interesting day so far. Was kinda funny to see Hubbs complaining about having to do work.

Look.. it's simple... If you believe in Santa and the Spirit of Christmas... If you believe there is good in all men and women... If you believe good things happen to good people... Then how in the world is it so hard for you to believe in Gruden? Keeping the Faith! :D

Go find another thread!!!

I hope that all these turndowns are just smokescreens for the JG hire and not an indication that we cant get a good coach to come here. getting worried.

But you've got to think... if coaching circles seriously put TN in top 15-20 jobs in country, why turn us down? We are a much better job than Louisville.

And why would we supposedly offer Strong $3.75 mil when Bielema is getting $3.2 mil from Arky? He isn't $500k better. Not one bit.

Sticking with the OGs... ridin' the train! :pepper:

So it looks like I'm right. Only one more coach of the three to turn is down. Hmm....

I'm still not sold, but why in the world would we go through the charade of having coaches turn us down publicly? That makes no sense. I mean sure, interview candidates and make it look like a real search, but the turn downs don't really make sense.

I know I will get flamed for this but...
If we didnt get Gruden ( which I am still 100% committed to) for the sake of argument, rather than make a hire we did not want or simply name an interim coach (aka lost year) why wouldnt we name Tressel. The true teeth of his show clause or for 5 weeks where his great staff hired would have to hold down the fort. After the five weeks its business as usual and we would have to walk the line. I realize the implications of being on probation and hiring a "show cause" penalty. But I believe Tressel is still quite respected. Yes he made some grievous errors, but the guy can coach and I feel knows to play it safe.

My flame retardant suit is on..... Bring it!
(and bring the Grude while your at it!)

Not Flaming, (just saying) that you might as well consider Petrino as well then.... :hi:

If Gruden is available, you get him. Kinda like when you set out to stab the king. You stab to kill. Otherwise, you end up with one of a wide assortments of "could be" or "should be" or "may be" good coaches.

Gruden won at Oakland, nuff said.

Why i the f'ing hell would getting 3 different coaches to publicly turn you down be part of some long drawn out plan to land Gruden?

I don't even fully believe Gruden is out of the picture, but this idea that having your brand embarrassed and publicly diminished is all part of a grander plan is absolutely the dumbest freaking thing I've ever heard in my life.

this is all starting to look like Gruden was in the bag all along if we pull this off... this would explain all the turn downs/smoke, complete shut down of the news coming out that we had him last week, and the lack of urgency at all on Hart's part to name a coach while others have

...and now his name is popping up again in the media

Where is his name popping up in the Media?

How could this be a smokescreen? Are Strong and Gundy in on it? Are they in cahoots with Hart to fool everyone? I don't see how we got everyone to play their part in this huge screenplay that is our coaching search.

Who said we really offered them?..Coach can say we offered or get someone to say they were offered to up their own deal..In effect we are becoming all these coaches best friend for more money
