He didn't speak with Tennessee, but he spoke with Dave Hart for several hours.

So we finally fired hart!!! Son he is working for bama!

Since some have said that Dooley was supposed to coach thru the bowl game, which would keep the Gruden deal the schedule, wonder if Dooley lost on purpose just to derail UT?

Of course, that would be hard to prove in a court of law that he coached to lose, since who would know how he coached to win?

Well if thats how it was supposed to go down and the whole deal got derailed bc of dooley going early, then there is no way they let gru go bc it was early. Talk all you want about hart but hart is just the messenger. Without the money hart might as well be a fart in the wind. They have the final say in this deal. Let it happen be patient and pay attention

I dont know man, i hope you are right. I just dont see why anybody would think strong will get us back to the top.

Saban has been the only hire in the last 20years that has been made without any doubt of success. This one wont compare and that's just fine!

It's clear Arky will get whoever we choose not to go after. They've had all year to put this together yet they are now interviewing candidates AFTER we get done interviewing them and we've had an open position for 3-weeks.. Hope they now understand where they truly stand, idiots.

Uhhh..we dont stand any better unless we get JG

Not true, remember how he did in the NFL? People were very much doubting if he still had it...needless to say...

It makes me honestly just question the salaries some of these media guys get who are supposed to have their finger on the pulse of these things. I mean, really, we have folks with fulltime jobs (outside of journalism), with no inside "connections" who make just as accurate predictions, with more merit, than a lot of these folks who are getting paid, then beg you to pay more, for their services.

At least Hargis actually did some legwork on his story and provided broken-down factual analysis. Some of these Knoxville clowns are the laziest, backtracking, vague, contradictory folks supposedly close to a situation I've ever seen.

This x1000

Unless he was actually there in the meeting with Hart and Strong , then I have my doubts.

We want the same thing, for the Vols to win. It will be hard for me to get excited for Charlie Strong. If he's the guy he'll have to prove it on the field for me whereas a more proven guy would allow me to buy in right off the bat. Not saying that's right but I think that's reality for a lot of fans. Ou know the minute he loses a game he shouldn't people are gonna say "that's what you get when you hire an up and comer ". A more established coach would garner a little more latitude. Not that that's right either, just reality.

Agree with your post, our secondary is horrible, not near enough functionable LBs, we need some better DEs. Recruiting is critical with this hire. IMHO year 1 6-6,7-5, years 2,3 9 wins and competing for 1st & 2nd in sec east. We don't need to wait another 3 years to see if someone can do it.

It will be hard for many to get excited and that's ok but I hope those people are willing I see the responses from our players and recruits. There is a reason jay graham old recruits last week strong was being considered. He knows he will draw attention.

That's my point, he'll have to prove it to the fans whereas a proven, bigger hire would cause more fans to get on board from the start. I think this board is a microcosm of the fan base. You can already see what many feel of a hire of a Strong type hire. If it is Strong, I hope he proves me wrong. It is not about winning the press conference it's about winning in the living rooms of recruits and translating that to Saturdays in the fall. I thought Dooley won the press conference and we know how that turned out.

Gruden's barely said a word this entire game and he seriously does just seem unexcited and distant, especially with how good of a game this is.
