I will support team and think we could have got a great coach but I think Dave Fart will be gone if year 2 he does not go at least 7-5. I have vented enough! Look at Butch Jones record. It's not SEC schedule but he is at Ciny not Tennessee. He has beat Louisville 2 times and was in overtime with them this year. He has beat Virginia Tech before they feel apart this year. Destroyed Pitt which played ND in OT. His first year sucked but went 10-3 last year and only blow out when Dooley had his best day as a coach at Tennessee. Cincy is 9-3 and going bowling. His team offense scored average 31 in 2012 and defense got average of 18 scored on them. Tennessee in 2012 scored 36 and defense gave away 35.5. In 2011 Cincy offense scored average 30 Tennessee was 21. In 2011 cincy Defense gave up 19 and Tennessee gave up 22.

If as reported his buyout is only $2m starting from day one either he's very confident in his ability or Hart did a better job negotiating than Hammy did with Dooley. That's not much more than his buyout at Cincy ($1.4m). If things don't get better quickly the buyout won't be an impediment to making another move, that's for sure.

I do like BJ more than I did Dooley, but that doesn't say much. However, he does seem to be the type of guy that gets the most out of his players, which Dooley did not. I would love to have some 5* recruits here, but not if they have the attitude of Bray. I would rather have a low 4* with a chip on his shoulder, than a punk that thinks he is better than the coach or program.

Certainly looks like his teams were more consistent anyway. Consistency can be very good :)

Who knows when this thread will be closed but it has been a lot of fun. It is sad in a way...we will all likely continue to post on VN but we won't have this unified gathering place known as the "Official John Gruden Thread". As I see you guys in the recruiting forum and the football forum I will be reminded of these long hours of hoping, dreaming, and obsessing. Whether you were an OG, a logical skeptic, an unabashed follower, a troll, or an "it ain't happenin'" it has been fun. This collection of people are a real testament to the greatness of the Vol fan base. We are Vol football...people in the media tease and ridicule fans but without us the players don't have scholarships, and the coaches and media don't have jobs...sure we get overly emotional and irrational at times but we are the backs upon which this thing is built. Thanks for the memories and I'll see you around.

I have so enjoyed this thread and the Gruden coach search, even if most of it was in my biased mind. OG you did a bang up job of keeping our faith going and I appreciate having just "something" to hang on to. As I stated when this thread was accosted by the ogres from FF ...I am now going to the Butch Jones thread and do exactly what I said I would do...ask..."so what can ya tell me about this guy" as I board the Jones train...GBO

Last men standing it looks like....its been interesting to say the least. I signed up during all this. Not sure where to go now. I guess the recruiting place is the next step huh? Hoping our new coach surprises us all and hauls in a great class. Peace out guys and GO VOLS!
