Last men standing it looks like....its been interesting to say the least. I signed up during all this. Not sure where to go now. I guess the recruiting place is the next step huh? Hoping our new coach surprises us all and hauls in a great class. Peace out guys and GO VOLS!
Imagine how mad folks will beifwhen Gruden ends up incollegefootball down the road.
Just a few things:
Crazy things - Some folks bought the Gruden hire hook, line, and sinker; OG's now say they never tried to convince anyone of anything, lmao; some of them are actually claiming they only "speculated"; instead of saying, "According to what I am told I believe....", they said, "It is done!" By the language I speak, that's definitive not speculative.
Sad thing - The fans created the Gruden myth and now blame Hart for screwing up their myth.
Pitiful thing - CBJ is a proven winner, but he will have to prove it to Vol fans before he's accepted.
I'll just say I'm glad I didn't believe it; I wanted it to happen but was never convinced Gruden would be the best thing for UT. I had a lot of fun with the posters in this thread though. I am a Vol and will support UT regardless of the coach. Go Vols!
I do like BJ more than I did Dooley, but that doesn't say much. However, he does seem to be the type of guy that gets the most out of his players, which Dooley did not. I would love to have some 5* recruits here, but not if they have the attitude of Bray. I would rather have a low 4* with a chip on his shoulder, than a punk that thinks he is better than the coach or program.
If as reported his buyout is only $2m starting from day one either he's very confident in his ability or Hart did a better job negotiating than Hammy did with Dooley. That's not much more than his buyout at Cincy ($1.4m). If things don't get better quickly the buyout won't be an impediment to making another move, that's for sure.
Hart is taking questions now, First question was about Gruden. He said he reached out to Gruden in the beginning and Grudens agent said he was not interested.
Well scratch that thought as the KNS article is wrong. It's $2m per contract year remaining, not a flat $2m. That's higher than Dooley's buyout. Good grief.
