I just thoroughly enjoyed the tongue lashing those grudenites gave anybody who dared to question ''sources''. Now who's laughing?
But, as a last ditch effort to get the one-up, they'll say ''well I'm glad you are all laughing that UT will be stuck in mediocrity'' but the problem is, Gruden was NEVER a legit possibility as coach, but they continually led people on, for what reason I don't know. E cred? Because they like to feel important?
I'll say it again, before it closes: best threads on VN ever. OG's, thanks for all that you brought. I do believe it was legit. Wish there was a place where we could all still post once the mods close this.
Amazes me to see these people being thanked for setting our entire fan base up for disappointment. Thank God it's over and we at least know who not to ever listen to again...
Amazes me that even now you can't find it in yourself to say "maybe those guys were right and things spun out of control. Maybe they did have some hard information and it ended up getting changed at the last minute. They did bring information to the table that nobody else was bringing. I probably should say hey thanks guys for bringing what you knew even though it turned out to be wrong."
If you got disappointed, shame on you for being so gullible and not hoping for the best, but waiting for the worst. And don't include the entire fan base, some of us wanted to believe, but ultimately knew somehow this would get screwed up.
And If I may quote the countless douches who told me to leave if I didn't like what I was reading, I offer the same advice. Leave. This thread is no longer a thread about coach Gruden's chances of coming to UT.

I'd like to paint a picture for all of you Gruders out there. 1)The guy's an NFL coach. In the NFL, you don't have to go on recruiting trips and kiss the read ends of 18-year-olds, you don't have to put up with athletic directors, college presidents, etc. You tell your players what's expected and, if they don't perform, you fire them. Plain and simple.
2) The guy makes 3.5 million per year doing Monday night football. He can sit in a chair and talk about the game going on and second guess everything that the coaches do, without consequences.
Now, would you, if you had his job and were 50, drop down to the college ranks and basically start a career making the same money, doing 10 times the work, having to put up with college crap (see 1 above)?!
John Gruden will never be a college football coach and I doubt that he'll ever be a pro coach.
And the old boys club keeps rambling on, the Knoxville media laps it up and laughs with Davey, and nobody asks any further questions. Dave Hart is THE final word.
