Official Mike Gundy Thread I

Question: I have heard the: "I'm a man!" sound byte, but does this guy have an attitude problem? Just curious. I really don't know anything about him. Would he be a fun coach to have, or an embarrassment?

I think he'd be fun. He was actually taking up for a player that the media was bashing in that sound byte. Might be nice to have a HC that sticks up for our players instead of throwing them under the bus.

IMO he has a great attitude for a coach. Has fun with his players and protects them like one of his own. Players know he has their back and they have his in return. Mad respect for him.

Edit: If you listen to the end of the "I'm a man" byte, he gets a pretty big applause from the media in the room

Sounds like there may have been something to him and UT in the interview

Maybe Hart offered him a decent proposal. Players seem to like him and play hard for him. I love his passion. While we are getting through the tough schedule of next year, he will be entertaining, that's for sure.

Ole T Boone will make sure that happens.

T Boone's net worth is roughly 1.5 billion. Haslam's is 1.2 billion. Charlie Ergen's is 9 billion. Min Kao's is 1.6 billion.

Ergen and Kao are UT grads, donors and on the Forbes 400 list also. Bring on T Boone if it comes to that.

The key figure is what do both give to their universities??

Anybody know?

I would assume Charlie gives a lot to UT. Dish Network is very visible with UT athelitics. The main point is UT has the resources there and it is on Hart to get them.

Boone Pickens Calls the Plays as Big Gift Complicates Life at Oklahoma State - WSJ.com

That article will tell you about Pickens. He's given nearly half a billion. I think he or his company was managing the $200 million athletics endowment. At one point it was $400 million, and then fell all the way to $125 million or something like that. (actual info is in the article).

Haslam gives a ton. I think he gave $32.5 million to UT 5 years ago (?). Plus the Haslam practice field.

Even though Boone may not be the wealthiest it appears to me he is the most generous with his money. That is all that matters when discussing this matter.

7-5 this year. Yeah...we need some of that. Not really. I'd rather take Holgerson + a proven DC. We can do better than this.

Is his 12-1 record and Big 12 title last year not good enough for you? He lost two 1st-round draft picks and had a slew of injuries this season.

Gundy is far superior to Holgerson, in my opinion. He has had more sustained success and has shown he can beat an SEC team.

I dont see him leaving there but it is interesting he had UT staff to his house. That would be serious bluff on his part to get more money.
