Official Mike Gundy Thread I

Ever since that press conference, I've been a fan of Gundy, and he has my complete respect. Players love playing for a coach like him. There's no question that he's got the team's back. So if somehow he ends up in Knoxville, he'll have my complete support. I don't see him leaving OkState though.

Hart is just helping him get some more $$$$. OSU will pony up, he's the best coach they've had in a long time plus he's a Cowboy through and through. I'm not so hot on these coach stealing deals, sounds Petrinoisk to me. I can see Strong leaving and coming but Gundy and Fisher are from major schools that are winning, with FSU actually in a great position recruiting and conference wise. Maybe I'm just jaded after Kiffin's exit and worn out after Gruden I-XIV.

I think Gundy end up accepting our offer

I completely believe that a coach would pick up another school's AD at the airport and drive him to his own house for an interview. That happens all the time. Absolutely credible.

Hmmmm... Gundynation... Gundyite...

Yep.. I can get onboard...

Is there truth to this rumor?

I will believe only when I see a coach standing behind the podium. I'm not getting sucked in again by rumors from "insiders" or media.

Gruden I took what, a year to max out?

GRUNDY I... maybe Grundy Only... LOL

BUt who knows

Worth mentioning that he was saying what he said in reference to Bobby Reid, who hated Gundy's guts after that game for going with the other QB as starter. He was pi$$ed that he went to the trouble to so vocally defend him and then never let him back on the field again. The kid transferred.

I'm not sure I want a coach who would do that to the kid he just made an @$$ of himself on national TV for.

I don't see T. Boone letting him go, whatever it takes to keep OSU relevant (daaarrrkkkkk days before Miles and Co. came along), Pickens will pay it. What shocks the heII out of me is that he's already getting $3.25 mill a year!

Doesn't matter what bag of bones will pay. If Gundy is hellbent on leaving he will leave

Absolutely agree, but why would he leave? He's coaching at his alma mater.
Respectfully, I just want your thoughts on why he's eager to leave.

There have been reports he is mad about his last extension. They gave the BB coach a ten year deal before him. I'm not here spreading lies, and rumors. It's in this thread somewhere. I hope it's Gundy, but would be ecstatic with Strong. I will be happy either way this goes.

You don't have to type respectfully. I'm never on here looking for fights. Just good conversation.

So now that Mike Gundy is possibly in play I was wondering...

1.) He's been around about 8 years, his teams have been pretty good offensively but no one has really thought of OSU as a national powerhouse year in year out. What resources are available to HC at UT that OSU doesn't have to become a contender? OSU has good facilities, fertile recruiting grounds close by and booster money.

2.) His defenses have been terrible, only once ranked better than 82nd nationally. How's a Gundy coached team going to hold up against SEC offenses?

Maybe its Harts plan to keep Sal. I agree w/ you and we would have to shell out some big money for a DC.
