Official Nashville Predators Thread

From what I was reading last night and this morning, the injury is more of a case of pain tolerence. You hearing something different?

They were talking about it this morning on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. Boclair thought that it was a mobility issue, and since basically his style of play doesn't really require a lot of movement, (just camping out grading the net in front Pekka) that he must really be hurting to be kept out of the linup. Said possible ankle fracture. BUT Trotz and the staff are extremely tight lipped so that was all assumptions on his part. I think he will make go at it sometime this series.. hopefully Friday

A certain coach said going into Nashville (he wasn't even talking about the playoffs), was like going into the roman coliseum, or what that must have been like.

Well...

I'm at work with a blistering hangover and absolutely no voice. I want someone to show me who has a better home ice advantage than the Preds have.

Some may have just as good, but I doubt anybody has it better. That place was absolutely rocking the whole game.

I feel like we stole one. I thought we were outplayed to loose pucks all night. Referees called an extremely tight game though. We dumped and chased more than I have ever seen us last night.

Going to try and convince a friend of mine to make the 2.5 hour drive to Nashville with me next Friday.

I think I'm mostly impressed by how butthurt Wings fans are over this, considering their team has historically been a pretty dirty one. Watching them dive all night long was just a blast.

The atmosphere at the United Center was pretty ridiculous way early in the season. Can't vouch for playoff atmosphere, but I would wager that both Chicago and Detroit have louder arenas, if only marginally.

Great atmosphere last night! We came out so strong, but they took it to us the last two periods. Bourque has a game that fits the playoffs so well, gritty and high energy. I think he can continue to have success. The top line may not have scored, but Fisher was absolutely playing playoff hockey. He was finishing his checks and hitting hard.
On Weber, as a Pred fan I hope he isn't suspended, but I know if it was the other way I would absolutely demand a suspension, I'm worried.
All in all we took game one at home and that's very good. 1 down, 15 to go.

Also, I love that Babcock called out our 3rd and 4th line. That worked out well for him. 3 goals from ours. I think Helm may be done for the series. Leaving the arena to have surgery is no good. Hope it doesn't threaten his career or anything.

I went to a game at the Joe in 2001. Place was loud as all get out for a game against the Wild, of all things. It's not as loud now thanks to the recession (regular season games, from what I've seen, are now about 80% capacity depending on the night), but it was $100 a piece for upper-deck tickets.

Right now, Chicago probably has the best atmosphere in the NHL.

The game I went to was in November, on a Tuesday or Wednesday at 7:00 CST, against the Preds. Those crazy fawkers must have all called into work that day, because it was packed floor to ceiling, and the place was nuts.

You may be right, but I've heard it over, and over from outsiders talking about it, and almost all said Nashville was as loud as any arena out there.

Nashville has great support for its pro teams, but Chicago, as a sports town, is in a whole different stratosphere.

When I was there last April, every statue in the city was dressed up in blackhawks gear.

Not trolling here....

I'm just glad we have an NHL team. It wasn't too long ago they were drawing 12,000 fans, and fighting to get to the 14,000 average to get in on the revenue sharing. This team has come a long way in a short period of time. I remember going to Nashville Knights games thinking that was the closest thing to pro sports the city would ever see.

Like I said, they have come a long way from 1998. And as much as Predator fans would hate to admit, they have tried to model their franchise after Detroit.

I agree completely. It's remarkable the support the Preds and Titans receive in such a relatively short time frame. And Memphis, for that matter, supports the Grizz well. I'd love for Knoxville to get a pro sports team, but Nashville is close enough for me to associate with and attend a few games a year.

I wouldn't hate to admit it. Detroit has a great history. And that entitles their fans to a certain arrogance, which is why I hate the red wings.

I was reading an article on ESPN that quoted the ownership and management of Nashville basically admitting exactly what you just said.

I know they have. That's a good team to model yourself after IMO. They have closed the gap, and possibly have passed them at this point.

Btw, helm is out for the rest of the post season. Good for the PREDS, but I hope he has a nice recovery. That makes me uneasy even thinking about suffering that kind of injury.

Drew Sharp never ceases to amaze. I don't think I've ever seen a sportswriter as incredibly idiotic (that isn't trying to troll, as far as I know) as this moron. Friggin' Free Press.

Drew Sharp: Nashville's playoff chances might be on borrowed time | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Never read anything really from him, but there is a good bit of truth in what he says. This is the best opportunity Nashville has ever had to make a playoff run and will possibly be the last in a while due to free agency.

I think my problem with this idiot stems from his last month of work:

-The Tigers should keep Brandon Inge because he's apparently a Tiger For Life or some garbage like that
-The Lions should cut Nick Fairley (!!!)
-The Predators have all of the pressure in this series
-Called Michigan State's Sweet 16 season after starting unranked a "failure"

He's basically Skip Bayless, but he's not openly trolling. The Jon Wilner of the East?
