Official Nashville Predators Thread

Great win.

I swear, if I see a red wings fan at school tomorrow I am going to take off my skate and put it in their throat!!!

My suggestion is to grab em by the back of the head and slam their face into the wall. It'll only cost you 2,500 bucks, well worth it.

Thanks for the pro-tip. I suppose it is more subtle than the skate to the throat play. Nothing says screw you, like making a guy bleed out though!!

Kind of surprised that I haven't seen anything about the brutal missed call on the Franzen spear. Legwand grabs his jersey (from the bench), Franzen spears him in the stomach.

Should've been 5 and a game, not a minor for slashing.

Yeah, Detroit can pretty much stop talking about the Weber thing now

Video of Legwand/Franzen for those who haven't seen it.

Johan Franzen spears David Legwand on the bench. April 15th 2012 - YouTube

Spearing being a flagrant penalty, there is absolutely no gray area on its definition and on the penalties that are to be handed out:
62.1 Spearing - Spearing shall mean stabbing an opponent with the point of the stick blade, whether contact is made or not.
62.2 Double-minor Penalty - A double-minor penalty will be imposed on a player who spears an opponent and does not make contact.
62.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty shall be imposed on a player who spears an opponent (see 62.5).
62.4 Match Penalty - A match penalty shall be imposed on a player who injures an opponent as a result of a spear.
62.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - Whenever a major penalty is assessed for spearing, a game misconduct penalty must also be imposed.

Yeah, Detroit can pretty much stop talking about the Weber thing now

Please, I've been waiting 20 years for Detroit fans (not as a collective, but as any of a number of individuals) to acknowledge the fact that they're been on the receiving end of lopsided officiating in their favor during that entire time span.

I had no idea there was a Preds thread on VN...this is awesome…I think if that game went another 5 minutes we may have been in trouble. Anyone know if Gill is back for Tuesday?

2012 Stanley Cup playoffs: Five teams with best home-ice advantage - ESPN

Top 5 home playoff advantages:

1. Chicago Blackhawks
2. Philadelphia Flyers
3. Detroit Redwings
4. Boston Bruins

5. Nashville Predators
OK, this is the wild card on the list, we know that. But this is among the loudest rinks in the league come playoff time. I mean, the fans here throw catfish on the ice! A surprising choice perhaps to have made this list, but the Preds love playing in the friendly confines of Bridgestone Arena and the place is going to rock this postseason.

If I'm trying to make it in for game 5 this Friday, what is the scalping situation like? Would it be cheaper to go ahead and buy them on Stubhub and pay their ridiculous fees? I'm looking at like $100 each for lower bowl tickets.

I will still say the a playoff home game in Philadelphia is crazier than in Nashville. Maybe it was because Nashville didnt play too well in game 2, but I went to two playoff games in 2010 in Philly and it was one of the best enviroments I have ever watched at hockey game. Nashville is pretty good though.

$100 for lower bowl is cheap for a playoff game. I would guess the scalping situation is not much better.

That was the regular season price for a Saturday Red Wings game.

Ottawa's Carkner is suspended for 1 game and Ranger's Hagelin is suspended for 3 games for his hit on Alphie. I would expect a similar suspension for Pen's Asham and a possible suspension for Pen's Neal.

Penguins don't need any suspensions to add insult to injury. I'm sure they'd love to not be swept in the first round. I wouldn't mind seeing it. My coworker laughed at me when I half sarcastically suggested the Preds would win the cup, and said the smart money was on Pittsburgh...

It's okay. It's relevant to the Preds, because all those teams will need to go down at some point in their Stanley Cup run!

100 dollars each for lower bowl?

I found 2 the night before game 1 on stubhub in section 117 6 rows from the ice for 68 a piece.

Looks like Gill skated today, but not for the full practice. I'd guess still probably no for tomorrow but game 5 is looking his chance to get back.
