Guys get excited in the moment and go all sorts of crazy. Who cares? It's a hyper-masculine sport. Fighters say all sorts of things after matches. Basketball players say outlandish things after hitting a big shot.
Guys like Sherman LOVE this too, they know exactly what they're doing. He's a great player, and he feeds off of the hype that builds around the game, situation, his competitor, or himself. Sometimes he has to fuel the fire, and he takes it to higher levels because he is comfortable operating in that kind of environment. It's win big or win lose.
He's that kind of guy, that's why he wants the ball thrown to him so he can make the big play. he knows that if he lets Crabtree make that catch, the media, and more importantly himself, are going to GRILL him. He won big on that play, and won big for his team, so of course he's going to be hype. He talked a big game, he backed it up, he's flying high. That's his fuel.
I understand guys like that. They set the bar for themselves in the public because they know the media, their coaches, their friends, their family, THEMSELVES, will hold them to it. Tim Tebow did it in a speech. Vince Young did it after his Rose Bowl win in 04. Countless fighters and racers do it. It's part of being a competitor.
People that aren't even in sports might do it. People in sales do it ALL THE TIME. That's besides the point.
Either way, I love the Seattle D and Sherman. Awesome player, and an amazing talent. As a Titans fan, I'd love to have him, trash talk and all.
You mean, like the Seahawks?I'd love to have him as well. Has nothing to do with the point though. His actions cause a ****storm all over the place, and it was unnecessary. Those that like him or the Seahawks don't care. Obviously, that's not really an objective view.
Last few things I have read have tried to put more focus on how Wilson handled himself and represented.
You mean, like the Seahawks?
Isn't that all that matters?
Additionally, he didn't even start a shh storm with the team that he's about to play. Sure, he's laying out the bait and waiting with anticipation for a Bronco to say something. However, he talked trash about a divisional rival, a team that they play at least 2x a year, and in this situation 3. He's all over them and that rivalry. It's a rad rivalry.
And what kind of shh storm is he really stirring up? He's selling a ton of seats and publicity for their (SF vs SEA) games next year. ESPN LOVES IT. They're going to talk about this over and over and over again, and follow him with cameras. His interviews leading up to the Super Bowl will be the most watched. They'll ask Peyton about it, and he can field the question(s) however he pleases.
But for the guys that play into the hype and the emotion, this is great.
How many times did you hear "Richard Sherman got beat on that play!"
The answer is zero. Job well done.
