We really need to start recruiting better. If we were to accomplish consistent top 10 classes, I believe we have the system and coach to be a perennial power house.
link or gtfo with your stupid comments........the ncaa isn't knocking on our door
14 points have come off of punt returns and many many others off the run game, he is breaking in a new QB as you are. It isn't like he is throwing every play. He is having him run the offense and prepare for the season as the starter. Isn't that what tuneups are for? Please don't be a hypocrite as I am sure Tennessee has beat the holy crap out of plenty of small schools in their time. As you all have point out you have more history so I think you probably have more beatdowns than we dok: Get over yourself.....and prepare for a what is going to a hell of a game shoved down your throat next saturday

Their in-region recruiting plan is screwed all sorts of ways (basically, it used to be Belotti going into a OR/WA recruits living room and saying "We are UofO, therefore you are going to choose us because we are the best") and they have to rely on scraps and overlooked talent from California for skill positions. As part of a fanbase, at some point you have to accept what the limitations of your favorite team is. An Oregon is never going to have the capacity for the year in year out success of a USC.

they have done great considering almost all of their recruiting comes from outside the state. They don't give anymore than two or three schollys in-state in any given year. Let's face it, this state is full of white people. They also don't get the cream of the crop like the big timers but they are improving year by year and are starting to really get their fare share and still haven't peaked. The thing they have going for them is they develop better than most. They will make a two/three star into a player in college. Just think how good they can be when they don't even offer two stars because their profile has risen........
In a sense, we're kind of like Tennessee. A pretty good team, located in a state with very little high school talent, while being in close proximity to a state or states that are overflowing with pig skin riches. If Chip Kelly could somehow get his foot in the door in California, and establish a consistent base of talent, Oregon COULD be a consistent top 10 team.
But no, we'll never be USC.
