shared the pac ten in 2000
outright in 2001
if dixon doesn't blow his knee out they win in 2007 (who knows what else)
outright in 2010........

three times in 10 years isn't bad....that doesn't count the shoulda woulda coulda year in 2007:)

We really need to start recruiting better. If we were to accomplish consistent top 10 classes, I believe we have the system and coach to be a perennial power house.

See many Sooner fans going woulda coulda shoulda because of Sam Bradford last season?

Oregon is good. They have the resources to be a consistently decent program. But the capacity is simply not there to be a usual presence in the Rose Bowl.

Their in-region recruiting plan is screwed all sorts of ways (basically, it used to be Belotti going into a OR/WA recruits living room and saying "We are UofO, therefore you are going to choose us because we are the best") and they have to rely on scraps and overlooked talent from California for skill positions. As part of a fanbase, at some point you have to accept what the limitations of your favorite team is. An Oregon is never going to have the capacity for the year in year out success of a USC.

link or gtfo with your stupid comments........the ncaa isn't knocking on our door:)

14 points have come off of punt returns and many many others off the run game, he is breaking in a new QB as you are. It isn't like he is throwing every play. He is having him run the offense and prepare for the season as the starter. Isn't that what tuneups are for? Please don't be a hypocrite as I am sure Tennessee has beat the holy crap out of plenty of small schools in their time. As you all have point out you have more history so I think you probably have more beatdowns than we do:eek:k: Get over yourself.....and prepare for a what is going to a hell of a game shoved down your throat next saturday:)

slow your roll and know your place, d_ck.

Nothing yet but he's clearly demonstrated he plays fast and loose with the rules. I've heard he has relatively little regard for the compliance office. It's a good way to win quickly and win now, but if it goes on long enough, Oregon will end up paying at some point.

In a sense, we're kind of like Tennessee. A pretty good team, located in a state with very little high school talent, while being in close proximity to a state or states that are overflowing with pig skin riches. If Chip Kelly could somehow get his foot in the door in California, and establish a consistent base of talent, Oregon COULD be a consistent top 10 team.

But no, we'll never be USC.

Portland D_ck, quit giving my favorite city a bad name........

Also on a side note, I heard the world's dumbest comment from the commentators of the Oregon game. They said they'd rather go to the Rose Bowl than the national championship game. Seriously......

they have done great considering almost all of their recruiting comes from outside the state. They don't give anymore than two or three schollys in-state in any given year. Let's face it, this state is full of white people. They also don't get the cream of the crop like the big timers but they are improving year by year and are starting to really get their fare share and still haven't peaked. The thing they have going for them is they develop better than most. They will make a two/three star into a player in college. Just think how good they can be when they don't even offer two stars because their profile has risen........

For all who are disturbed by my fan-hood.

I moved from Knoxville two days ago. I was born in Idaho, mariners territory. My mother is from Quebec.

Was just asking, not judging. Besides, none of my teams are recent powerhouses.

Not really. Oregon and Washington produce maybe 10 Rivals 250 type players between them every year, and most of them either go to California or go elsewhere.

Success for PNW schools relies in JUCO talent and scouting diamonds in the rough. It's no way to dominate the conference, but it's the best they can do.

do you know the history at SC prior to pete carroll? their was a lull......florida hasn't always been florida, bama hasn't always been bama and OU hasn't always been OU.....Texas, well they are kind of a new flavor cause they sure as hell haven't been as good as they have been recently. Notre Dame....don't get me started........
