You are not missing anything. Rap is terrible. The whole of music isn't far behind.

You've had to wade through a lot of trash to find decent music for the past couple decades. It probably is getting worse, but good stuff still exists out there. Negavol. :whistling:

On the contrary, there's a lot of really incredible stuff out there. We just live in an age where a lot more music is available than ever before, and it's more prone to being bad because of that.

Our definition and taste of "incredible" are probably fairly far apart.

Is it wrong that I have no idea who the **** you clowns are talking about outside of Biggie and 2Pac

You guys and gals need to listen to more of the legend, The Great George Jones. He could actually sing.

I must be a bit older than most of you guys. My go-to music has remained synth. Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys all day.

Glad to see most here prefer biggie over 2pac. Smalls is the best rapper all time IMO.. and my favorite by a country mile. You guys ever listen to 8ball and mjg? I've never even been to Memphis other than driving thru but those guys were some of my favorites back in the day

The chronic. Dre
Doggy style
Outkast.
Goodie mob
8ball
Wu tang
DMX

All these dropped while I was in middle school or highschool. I know every word to every song on the top 3 albums.

People knock the 90s but some great music came out... also love

TOOL. MY FAVORITE PERIOD.
RAGE
Alice in chains
Sound garden
Pantera
Deftones.
Korn before they sold out
Pearl jam...ten is 1 of the best albums ever recorded. Almost every song is good. Love black and garden.

Who am I forgetting guys? This is the music of my youth. Love it. I am sure I am forgetting some great ones.

Don't worry, I think it went downhill after Eazy E died.

But I also learned to appreciate rap with the likes of Grandmaster Melle Mel & the Furious 5, Ice T, Grandmaster Flash and the Sugar Hill Gang.

Few of the greats could make it today, it's not about talent anymore.

A few of them manage to hang around. Hank Williams Jr and Charlie Daniels immediately come to mind.

And while not in the age bracket of the "greats" George Strait manages to retain his country roots while carrying a huge fan base.

Yes when it comes to country ...what they play on the radio is not even country anymore. Bro country is terrible. I like the greats like George Merle Johnny etc. Also like hank sr., some jr., George Strait, etc.

Jason Aldean and all his clones are terrible. There are some decent new artists but they are far outside the mainstream and you will not hear them on the radio. What is played on the air is dictated by record label bribes and back room deals. Success is bought and sold, not performed and earned. 90 percent of radio stations are owned by clear channel...it's a monopoly.
