Glad to see most here prefer biggie over 2pac. Smalls is the best rapper all time IMO.. and my favorite by a country mile. You guys ever listen to 8ball and mjg? I've never even been to Memphis other than driving thru but those guys were some of my favorites back in the day
The chronic. Dre
Doggy style
Outkast.
Goodie mob
8ball
Wu tang
DMX
All these dropped while I was in middle school or highschool. I know every word to every song on the top 3 albums.
People knock the 90s but some great music came out... also love
TOOL. MY FAVORITE PERIOD.
RAGE
Alice in chains
Sound garden
Pantera
Deftones.
Korn before they sold out
Pearl jam...ten is 1 of the best albums ever recorded. Almost every song is good. Love black and garden.
Who am I forgetting guys? This is the music of my youth. Love it. I am sure I am forgetting some great ones.
8ball and MJG came out big right after I graduated high school.
Rap isn't my thing, but I have great respect for Pac and Biggie.
The hologram of Pac was impressive.
Crazy that arguably the 2 best rappers all time had each other killed. The rap community seems to have learned a lesson about "beef"...but at what cost? It's like gorge strait and garth brooks having each other killed over a verbal spat. Absolutely insane.
Oh and Sug knight getting incredibly rich off the albums released posthumously. Like tens of millions rich....makes you say hmmmmmm
I've seen Hank and Charlie in concert many times. Great shows.
I have a friend that was in a gang when pac was killed. He said the cops did it. Orchestrated by Sug. But he said a lot of people in rival gangs wanted pac dead. It was only a letter of time.
I think Sug knight definitely had 2pac killed. Then biggie paid the price. Which I believe Sug encouraged and even financed be a use the hit was on the east coast. Sug knight is a piece if trash...extortion is murderer etc.
A few of them manage to hang around. Hank Williams Jr and Charlie Daniels immediately come to mind.
And while not in the age bracket of the "greats" George Strait manages to retain his country roots while carrying a huge fan base.
Currently listening to one of my favorite songs from the late 80s, early 90s. Copperhead Road by Steve Earle
