You know guys in the video i saw that is not what Coach G was trying to teach Hurd!

He was trying to show Hurd how he should be planting the correct leg to the side he was getting hit from.

If you ever watch old Hershel Walker films you will notice he was a pro at that technique. And players would just bounce off of him. I am sure they are making sure he is getting low as well but these reporters are making a allot bull out of nothing IMO!

That's a good catch, I didn't notice that. But they have been hounding him about staying low. They realize he has a unique combination of size and speed, and if he can master techniques like you just mentioned as well as staying low and using his size to gain leverage, he'll be a monster.

Godzilla was tall too.

In the video, I saw Malik doing some Gator type jersey holding. In the video I saw Pearson do a sort of Da'rick one hander. Imagine having a WR with the elusiveness of
of CP (but a better route runner) and the snagging ability of DR (with a better attitude).

= Megatron minus prima donna attitude.

That's a tough one. Right now I'd take Hunter and Cordarrelle, but I'll probably change my opinion on that after this season.

Hunter, CP and White Lightning were awesome. Too bad DuhRick spoiled the 4some. But what about the depth behind them?

If North and VP both need a blow, no biggie. We still have Croom, Malone, Josh, Pig, Devron, etc. We can even call up Creamer, BerryTwin Power, etc. if need be!

Question of the day, I want to know too.

I saw a quote in the recruiting forum saying Jakob held his own.

Edit:here's the quote.

• Speaking of the circle drill, freshman linebacker Jakob Johnson, whom Jones called "Germany," (he's originally from Stuttgart), held his own against All-SEC 'backer A.J. Johnson. Freshman offensive tackle Coleman Thomas won his matchup with defensive end Dimarya Mixon, another newcomer. Jones called out a few of Tennessee's 14 January enrollees to take a turn.

What the world does that mean? He got beat but not instantly? The term 'holding your own' should mean you won.

I don't know.. If I had to guess id say there probably wasn't a clear "winner." And even if AJ got the best of Jakob, just from that small quote it doesn't sound like AJ pancaked the freshman or anything. If you ask me, the youngster holding his own against a 4-year all-sec starter can't be a bad thing :)

Any elaborations on the marlin lane situation? We need him to be a senior leader for these young running backs.

True, but it seems like he will be so self conscious about getting down that he won't have the same priority of seeing it and hitting it. They're hounding him hard.

You don't think that is a good thing? To hound a freshmen EE when he starts spring practice? It will be fine. I can't see anything but good coming out of it :hi:

If you've watched football closely, including even peewee level football now. Defenders are vicious. Many literally try to disable ball carriers and quarterbacks. This isn't new. Grab footage of Lawrence Taylor's hit that broke Theisman's leg. Watch closely how LT angles and throws his body so that he "oops" falls on the QB's leg that's anchored to the ground. It's intentional and no accident. Watch it. You probably have seen how BIG noseguards mostly fall onto QBs and RBs so their "falling" weight does the most damage without drawing a penalty. Even linger on them to sort of make "dam" sure they crush some bones. Point? You got defenders who are going to intentionally seek to not hurt you but disable you.

You get a big tall RB like Hurd, you teach him to protect himself. It's a fact that when real bullets or the guided missiles called DBs are coming your way, the closer you are to the ground, the safer you are.

Remember Lattimore and I think it was the Brian Randolph hit. Our guy came in low, aiming at the knees. Yeah you can deny it all you want but film shows what happened. Our guy did what DBs all over at all levels of the sport are doing. They're less interested in tackling you than they are in breaking you. It's a reality that Hurd will face from masters of the craft. His body type and upright style is the perfect target for these assassins. He dam well better run low and behind his pads.

Montario Hardesty was darn good at that.

It sounded like it was a planned/expected absence, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Not sure as I only saw it fleetingly while web surfing for info on some Auburn leaning RB recruit Butch is targeting. briefly, a statement appeared about Lane's mom. The page refreshed and it was gone. Don't even know if it was legit.

It was Eric Gordon and no he didnt intentionally hurt Lattimore. It was a clean, fundamentally sound tackle. Smaller players are taught to take out bigger players legs because they will probably get trucked in a head on collision. Thats like saying "Ok E. Moseley, go lay out marlin lane" It won't happen.
