Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

Boom, down goes Texas…2 seed door cracks open just a bit more.
Gotta think if we can win the next 3 at least and lose in the championship (seems the committee doesn’t care about that game) then we gotta have a good shot at the last 2 seed. Of course I said this last season as well and we stayed a 3 seed

It seemed conference tournaments had no impact really at all last year, regardless of what round, so I’m looking at it as regular season finish essentially. Right now I think we can get to a 2 by Sunday if we win Saturday.

Committee is watching UT a little closer since the ZZ loss.

Beat Auburn and get to SECT finals could get us a 2 seed. Chances of that happening are not great.

Win Sat will almost guarantee a 3 seed worse case.

Tonight’s games:
7:00pm: Wichita State vs. Houston
9:00pm: Arizona State vs. UCLA
9:00pm: Purdue vs. Wisconsin
11:00pm: Arizona vs. USC

3 seed in Midwest, playing first weekend in Greensboro, may be as good of a draw as a 2 seed.??

I think the location thing is overrated, unless it’s opposite effect and you draw a location where underdog is essentially at home, then it’s a negative. I would much rather get a 2 and be shipped out west somewhere. With that said, getting a 2 vs. 3 wouldn’t change our location.

At this point, we're almost assured of playing in Greensboro. Virginia is the only other team out there on the top 4 seed lines that would have Greensboro as their 1st option. So for us to lose out on that location, Virginia and someone else would have to go above us. Like, let's say we fall to a 4 just behind UVA on the S-Curve and Indiana goes up to a 3, and let's say Des Moines and Columbus are already snatched up. Technically, Greensboro is closer to Indiana than somewhere like Orlando, but would it really even matter all that much to them? I could see them still getting sent to Orlando and them putting us in Greensboro. Same story with someone like Gonzaga.

So plan for Friday/Sunday. We typically get slotted in the afternoon session for whatever reason, but with Virginia as the other team likely to get Greensboro, I could see us drawing the evening session and UVA in the afternoon. It might come down to who else is in Greensboro. If Duke ends up there by some coincidence I imagine CBS will point them straight to the evening session, so if we're the 3 and they're the 6 we would almost certainly be playing at night.

One of the times it can stink is if you draw a location that overlaps with a rival like Kentucky, they'll show up and try to make it a home game for the other team.

No we aren’t? We are ahead of Gonzaga, albeit barely. 8-12 is really tight.
Whoops, checked the matrix yesterday when it was only "partially updated" and we were behind Gonzaga by 0.01. Updated fully today and its a tight race. Wish Arizona would have lost last night.

I wish we had a Nashville region in the tournament
I don't understand why TBA no longer hosts NCAA Tournament games. I've seen LSU with Shaq and Chris Jackson lose to Georgia Tech with Lethal Weapon 3 and my boy, Kenny Anderson. The Big Dog score 44 for Purdue to beat Kansas, a few years later. Then Duke beat Purdue in the next game to win the Regional. They cut down the nets and everything. It was awesome, although I'm a huge Big Dog Robinson fan. Cuonzo was on that team. TBA looks like a pro arena, inside, now. You would think TBA would be ideal to host, at least for 1st and 2nd round games

They hadn’t had minimum locker room requirements. Maybe with Pratt they do now. There is also hotel room availability, which you’d think there’d be enough of. But the 1,500 +/- rooms added at the Papermill exit haven’t been there for very long.
